Dropped Largo on. Notice a preset already up. Click preset, wheel spins and crash. Sad panda face.

The preset you see is yours - when you drop a plugin in, it automatically imports the first preset.

Since I don't have Largo I can't check if it is a Zen bug, or Largo not complying with the Zen minimal requirements

Couple of questions:
1. Is there a way to alter a preset after I've uploaded it to the server? Forgot to put my author tag on a couple, and I'd like to remedy that.

2. Say I want to start making presets for a synth not currently on the server. It would probably be helpful to other people who want to use that synth with Zen if the factory presets were added, so that they could browse those as well as any new presets. What's the acceptable way to do this? Should I get in contact with the synth's creator and get them to sign off on having the factory content on the server?

TFF, you can add/remove tags at any time. Whenever you ctrl-click a tag to assign it to a preset, it gets uploaded to the server. If you want to replace the actual preset, just upload the new one and let me know if you want one of the duplicates removed.

Regarding factory presets for other synths, yes, it's better to get agreement from the synth creator first, just to be on the safe side. Usually it's not too hard to get the agreement, just explain that the presets are only useful to people who own the synth in the first place, and that actually, sharing the presets in Zen is conceptually the same than sharing a DAW project featuring the plugin.

Sick, thanks for the info. I'll probably be sending off messages to the programmers for some of my favorite free plugins soon.

Was using Zen in Renoise, tried to load Triple Cheese, got this error:

Post

Happens with all TripleCheese presets, or only this one ?

Post

Happens the first time. Then, if I try to load another TC preset while the current one is still playing out, it crashes.

I just loaded Zen version 1.6.0 beta 3 / (Zen Core #05). Great idea and thank you!

I tried dragging Camel Audio's Alchemy on to the plugin list but nothing happens. Any thoughts?

Hi,

I just tried Alchemy too - it actually creates an entry for it, but it is named "Unknown" - probably because Alchemy doesn't report its name to Zen. Also, importing presets doesn't work with Alchemy, because it does not comply with the 1st and 3rd requirements on this list.

Having said that, I am currently discussing with the Camel guys to see how to improve Alchemy / Zen compatibility. So stay tuned...

PS. To remove the "unknown" entry, just double-click it and clear the text.

using zen beta 1.63 for pc, in reaper V4 alpha 55... OS is XP SP2

Image

that shows up at the first time loading Zen to a track... clk OK and Zen then loads... but it is a bit disconcerting

also major issues with how Zen will bring up and display the gui for certain plugs... Albino3 just now is a good example

The gui gets drawn to the upper left corner of the screen but is not complete and the normal grab bar at the very top of the gui is above the edge of the screen... so to move the gui, I have drag it larger from the lower right corner, and that really makes a mess of how it looks... but it gives just enough of that top bar to grab and move the gui around the screen...

I see when loading Albino directly into Reaper it draws better but still seems to have issues which I think are Albino issues... but other dll's have similar drawing problems when opened via Zen... most of them do not but many do.

I might suggest that Zen open the gui's NOT in the upper left most corner but a bit inset from there... like a good 1/4 inch down and to the right perhaps?

The error message is because you have another Zen running somewhere. It might be an instance that didn't exit properly, though I thought I had fixed that... or you might have run the standalone version too...

As for the UI opening in the topleft corner, this was actually a fix for Orion, but it seems to have had nasty side-effects in a lot of other hosts.

OK another problem or question:

here is a good dll to use as example:

http://www.krakli.co.uk/cygnus.htm

cygnus.dll [comes in two flavors so try both]

I can drop it into Zen and it shows up... but then when opening the gui I have no way to load banks and presets, even though I have 3 fxb's for it.

If I open it's gui in a normal host there is no problem...

so now... what about being able to drag and drop fxb's for a given dll, much like we can d and d the dll itself? That would be very sweet.

You actually can, although it's not very well documented:
- select a Cygnus preset in the search results list, so that Cygnus is the currently active synth.
- drop a fxb into the preset searchs result.

This will send the fxb to your opened Cygnus. From here you can import the presets from this fxb as usual.

ummm no I actually can't get all the presets imported.. maybe user error but I don't find a way to get'er done.

I can make cygnus the active dll OK, and I can d and d one of the 3 fxb files into the preset list.. but this only loads the first preset into cygnus, and on the gui for cygnus, from inside Zen there is no way to see or choose the other presets...

perhaps it is a cygnus issue...

so what I was really saying is that if I d and d an fxb, which would contain many individual presets, onto the presets list, that the fxb get opened so that Zen would see all the patches or single fxp's it contains...

of course I don't know if that is possible...

perhaps you might get cygnus and give it a try? if need be I can send the 3 banks I have for it.

I realize certain dll's are gonna not always behave as one might wish... this might be one of them since it don't have a way to directly see presets on the gui... it depends on a host to do that.
