This is definitely something we really want to include but unfortunately Propellerheads have restrictions regarding the issue of development licenses to read the format. If we can obtain such a license then we will of course be adding preview support as soon as possible.grymmjack wrote:Can you add rex and rx2 preview support? I know you called it out earlier, but..

Greetings,
I just purchased your product last night. I love all of the concepts, but I found out today that the product I purchased is useless for me now because of the following limitation.
I have an ASIO based audio card (RME Fireface 800). RyAudio Sample Librarian will not let me select ASIO as an option. As a result, whenever I open up another application along side of it, I can no longer hear clean audio in both the Sample Librarian and the application. They both become distorted.
I have a tool call asioserver by Steinberg that lets you run two or more ASIO applications along side of one another for audio sharing. I also have two other ASIO drivers to select from, but the Sample Librarian -->Tools->Options->Audio only shows the non-ASIO options for selecting audio. As a result, dragging and dropping into my DAW or applications defeats the purpose now if I have to shut down Sample Librarian after dragging the files over, and then restarting Sample Librarian to move on.
There is another product called Breezer by Revel, that provides both ASIO and REX support, but they don't have the slick and cool tagging/smart group functionality that you have.
Is it possible that you can provide ASIO drive support soon? Thanks in advance.

If I had a good quote, I would place it right here!

Been playing with the demo for this - it's very close to being perfect, but there are a couple of issues that are stopping me from buying it. Has anyone seen/heard from RyAudio recently? I sent an email via their website with some questions and feature requests/suggestions a couple of days ago but haven't heard anything.

Many thanks for your interest in Sample Librarian. We answered a number of email queries today, so hopefully you will have received your response by now.audington wrote:Been playing with the demo for this - it's very close to being perfect, but there are a couple of issues that are stopping me from buying it. Folks, this software is not perfect. Far from it. Every release brings new and interesting bugs. However (and this is REALLY important), the attitude of the developer is that the bugs get jumped on quickly. They care about making their programme work.
When the programme is working for you, it is utterly indispensable and there's nothing else quite as good, in the Windows world. It's the reason I stick with it. When you figure out how to work around the issues (and that can be a little frustrating and definitely time consuming), the programme is the centre of my workflow and a real time saver during sound selection. My sound library is over a terrabyte in size, pushing two. There is no other practical way of managing all of those sound files.
You really should give it a try.

Yup - I got my answers (thanks, RyAudio!) and I'm just working on organising my samples and names in a way that I can make use of Sample Librarian. It wouldn't fit my workflow perfectly at the moment, so if I make some changes to how my data is named and stored I *should* be able to work around the issues.

can you edit (cut paste) the audio files and save? Or just preview?

I always hear this same excuse given by developers. I understand what you're saying I just think it's crappy that it is that way. Is it an exorbitant licensing fee that you must pay to license it? Thus, excluding you because of your different category of developer (a single person vs. a company with years of success)?

The good news is that from v1.3 (recently released) Propellerheads ReCycle (.REX, .RX2 and .RCY) files are now supported and can have their metadata imported (sample rate, bit depth, etc.) as well as additional ReCycle-specific metadata (i.e. tempo and time signature). They can also be previewed from within Sample Librarian like all other built-in file types.

Just preview (or drag-and-drop to your DAW). When Sample Librarian scans your hard-drives looking for samples, it imports information about them (name, duration, sample rate, bit depth, etc.) into its own database and stores links back to the original files on disk. The library is therefore a form of index enabling you to locate the sample files, catalogue them into playlists, rate them, add tags, etc. But it doesn't otherwise interact with the files themselves.analoguesamples909 wrote:can you edit (cut paste) the audio files and save? Great! What has changed your tune on this Chris? Yes, Propellerhead granted us access to the developer SDK, which enabled us to add REX support in v1.3. I'm not sure why they aren't more liberal with opening access to the ReCycle library, as it can only increase demand for REX files and the ReCycle application itself (which is the only way to author them), but they must have their Reasons (no pun intended).

Great to see more development happening on SampleLibrarian and fantastic news about the added REX support.
I demo'd V1 and i'd like to demo the new version but my 30 days trial was over in 2011

I bought it. As soon as REX support was announced, I was sold. The Tax is not good for me but overall, still a complete bargain for what you get, especially, if like me you are not getting along with the new Live 9 ''browser''!!!Stopani wrote:Great to see more development happening on SampleLibrarian and fantastic news about the added REX support.

Yeah i'm pretty much sold, all I want to check is that my Sample Library doesn't blow it up.Aloysius wrote:I bought it. As soon as REX support was announced, I was sold.
