Is there an upgrade path from Creative to Total Bundle?MeldaProduction wrote:And that's the best idea!pheeleep wrote:I got tired of wondering if I should get a new plugin from Vojtech when it is released. Happens each time and I usually end up getting it anyway during the intro price offer. So, I just upgraded to MTotal bundle to avoid the hassle from on. Now I'll just get any mastering or creative plugin for free as they are releasedI've been wanting to upgrade for a long time. Very happy

Hmmm, that's interesting, I'll check, but I believe they should be the same. Except MAutoDynamicEq does have 2 more bands, weren't they missing?bbaggins wrote:I've been playing with both of these all day, and I am impressed. This would be especially useful for problem tracks with resonances, such as a vocal or dialog recorded in an untreated room.
But I noticed a peculiarity, and surely it must be my imagination, but the two plugins seem to sound different from one another. Even when I exported my settings from MAutoDynamicEQ and then imported them into MDynamicEQ, A/Bing the two plugins revealed that they did not sound the same. MAutoDynamicEQ sounds better. How can that be? I imagine they share a common code base.
I believe I will be purchasing MAutoDynamicEQ. Will it replace Pro-Q as my go-to EQ? Probably not. And it may not be a tool you'd use every day. But it's just way too cool to pass up at this price.
And sure it will replace your ProQ!

Sure, what is the problem exactly? It has everything MDynamicEq does.DarkStar wrote:Can MAutoDynamicEq be used without the automatic EQ, that is, in the same way as MDynamicEq? If so, how?

SureCompyfox wrote:So Vojtech, was my assumption right that even though you have 5/7 bands (depending on the version), you additionally ALSO HAVE static LP/HP as well?
If so, then you don't count the LP/HP as additional bands and I think I have a personal winner. I really don't need "auto EQing" (even thought he concept is definitely tempting, like all your other auto stuff), but like I said - your attempt is the most future proof with the most features for the time being.
And yes, I also think 5 "dynamic bands" are more than enough. I'd prefer more bands if this EQ would be used on a broadband material (mastering), but then I'd love to have both static and dynamic.
I'm really curious what Dan Worral (IIRs) has to say.

Sure, basically the policy is to remove 50% from what you already have. I usually give even better prices for like "loyal customers", which have like other stuff...VariKusBrainZ wrote: Is there an upgrade path from Creative to Total Bundle?

I'm not sure if anything has changed since the last beta I tried. I had some reservations which you can read here I won't repeat them, except to point out that Vojtech's attempt to keep it simple even had bmanic scratching his head for a whileCompyfox wrote:I'm really curious what Dan Worrall (IIRs) has to say.
I can't resist that introductory price though so I just picked up a copy anyway!

Looks like from the discussion you had and from the recent looks, stuff changed towards your initial IQ4(2) idea.
If you find some time the next days, I'd love to get further feedback. I will try to take a closer look as well (5 bands + LP/HP is plenty enough for me) though I'm sure as hell no expert in that area yet.
Then again - if this plugin suits your needs (both Win/Mac), Dan - do you plan to continue on developing IQ4?

Thanks Dan
. You know, I think the current is implementation is kinda "perfect". It is easy-to-use, and yet it has all the advanced features you wanted plus some more. It just doesn't have ratio and rather a dynamic gain. Long discussion it was, but I hope you'll get used to it pretty quickly

It's slightly off-topic, but I've been wondering about the upgrade path from the creative bundle to the total bundle as well. I for example have the creative bundle (169€) and the pro version of the free plugins (30€). The only thing missing is the mixing/mastering bundle, right? Does this now mean that I could get the total bundle for 599€ - (169€+30€)/2 ~= 499€ whereas I could simply pick up the mixing/mastering bundle for 399€? Or could I get the mixing/mastering bundle for 299€?MeldaProduction wrote:Sure, basically the policy is to remove 50% from what you already have. No problem - I just wanted to be sure that I did not need both.MeldaProduction wrote:Sure, what is the problem exactly? It has everything MDynamicEq does.DarkStar wrote:Can MAutoDynamicEq be used without the automatic EQ, that is, in the same way as MDynamicEq? If so, how?
Also, how should I be interpreting the Sonogram?

Well, it's simple - color indicates level for each frequency.DarkStar wrote: Also, how should I be interpreting the Sonogram?

I just tested this plugin and I must say that I'm impressed.
First and foremost, the "Standard" version (then non auto) has indeed 5 bands + LP/HP up until 120dB/Oct for all crazy cutting needs. I also like how this is handled (though no Q?), indeed intuitive IMO.
What really shined through while demoing it, was the advanced tab per band (click on the "band symbol" to get there). You can change stuff that it's not even funny anymore. Things that HOFA could literally dream off, and something which IQ4gui (and it's beta successor) initially aimed at. I'm fairly sure Dan (IIRs) will be pleased.
I do have a couple of things I do not like:
First and foremost the FFT - it's too fast for my liking. I didn't mess with the manual yet, but I couldn't find a suitable setting in the setup.
Then the "tabs" are a bit jumpy for my liking. One wrong click and you have a screen full of stuff where you don't know what the heck is going on. Especially if you only want to change the band mode from peak to shelf for example.
What I do like are the different modes for the bands, the harmonic detection "per" band, the highly customizable detection, and if I got that right, you can even SIDECHAIN from an outside source (VST3 I assume, only tested the vst2.x version).
CPU consumption on my XPpro 32bit i7 920 rig is also fairly low, depending on whether or not I use the sonogram (think 2% max - though I only used 2 bands and no advanced modes).
I'd say - that's it, you got my attention. I'm using the free bundle for quite a while now (the compressor especially), and everything else wasn't really on my radar. But MDynamicEQ definitely is. It will come in handy for a couple of situations while doing postproduction and mastering.
Does it tag off FabFilter's Pro-Q?
In terms of Dynamic EQing - yes. In terms of full parametric EQ with way more bands and dead simple M/S setup, etc - I'd say no (didn't find the M/S mode yet).
