I use Slate Digital VCC & Soundtoys Decapitator really warms things up and gets rid of that plastic sound.

My favorite saturation on the 2bus is TSclip. You have to mix through it though because it changes the sound, but I've never used anything that clips so smoothly. I can pretend my DAW is an analog board and drive it into the red a little bit to add some heat. Oh, and throw one on your drum buss and enjoy the added smack and volume boost. And it's free. Nice!

Those two programs just work. 2 knobs/sliders to use (depending on chosen skin).

Well I have no idea how it works on Mac (or doesn't) but on windows I have zero problems. Sure there are typical "Italian" things about the Nebula, that is, it is a bit temperamental and quirky but it never crashes and sounds absolutely amazing with the correct programs. Also the latency is very easy to adjust now and can be as low as you want (at the cost of precision and cpu). Even at the default buffer size it's not any worse than your average linear phase EQ (pro-Q in medium quality linear phase).

The programs from Vieris (rhythminmind) are just insane! He even has a free compressor program there which is very nice. However my clear favourites are the powered bus thing and the VM compressor. Of course again, the gain reduction metering in Nebula is not working at all but it's easy to hear what the compressor does and it's virtually impossible to get it to sound bad, at any settings.

However, I do see your point ttoz. It's now more than 4 years since I first criticized the lack of polish to the GUI and overall user experience. They could sell heck of a lot more once it is fixed.

Then again, I think they never meant Nebula to be the main platform but rather the core technology.

There will probably be quite a lot of "powered by nebula VVTT technology" plugins out there later this year or next year. That's good news.

Yes Vieris/STN is an amazing Nebula 3rd party program developer. Did you try his NrA Enhancer on the mix buss?

I'm going to have to try out this Nebula stuff one of these days...

Anyway, I have lots of saturation options, but the one I use most often is the free Voxengo Tube Amp, in Mode 2 with 8x oversampling: great way to subtly thicken a mix or submix without colouring it too much. Its a shame he didn't include a dry/wet mix control on the interface for this type of scenario, but I discovered that switching the oversampling to linear phase mode allows me to use Reaper's dry/wet mix knob (or run the plug in a send/return loop "NY" style) without creating any phase problems.

Ferric TDS is on (essentially) every single master buss for my productions. Sometimes I'll mix in a little NastyTableTop as well and occasionally ModernAnaloguer to take the bite out of harsh high-frequency content.

The tube stage in BootEqMKII is good (along with the low-frequency exciter it has) but can get a little "smeary" with the sound and affects how distinct the instruments sound...though it can be used to cover a bad mix in some cases because of that.
