Well you cannot convert a Kontakt script into a MachFive script. That's what I meant by "nothing replicates Kontakt's scripting". And also there are some things you can do in Kontakt that MachFive still cannot do (purging via scripting, for example - not happening in MF, then, Kontakt can set up a much smaller DFD buffer, has background loading and lossless compression, all of which makes loading instruments REALLY FAST - not happening in MF yet). Allegedly some of these things are coming in an update, but first we need to see it to believe it.Lotuzia wrote:I'm no expert to judge and compare in an accurate way but MachV 3 script engine seems to be really powerfull.EvilDragon wrote:Nothing replicates Kontakt's scripting.

Not if it's a Kontakt Player library (encrypted NKX sample monoliths), or a library done for Kontakt v4.2 and above (because of the new binary format for which NI withholds the specification from 3rd parties).Uncle E wrote:Can other samplers open NKI files and then simply disregard the extra data?

Seriously, I don't know how they do it.hollowsun wrote:That's not strictly true!zircon wrote:So for example all of our products will only work in the full version of Kontakt.
Your stuff WILL work with the Player but with limitations ... not least of which, of course, is the time limit of 15 or 20 minutes before it conks out.
But a lot of my customers (somehow) manage to work within that limitation.
Cheers,

I wish they could sell a Kontakt "Lite", for 400$ I can buy the fully featured FL Studio Signature (boxed version)...

I would be stoked to get just the sampler. I don't need the libraries, I just want the sampler. still making do with EXS24 (which I am happy to have)..SampleScience wrote:I wish they could sell a Kontakt "Lite", for 400$ I can buy the fully featured FL Studio Signature (boxed version)...

Which is a great feature, and one that Halion has as well. However, it's limited in scope compared to scripting.1-2-Many wrote:
SB version of scripting is called MegaTrig "without the ahssle of pages of scripting files"
Honestly, it's the third party support and the COMPANY support of Kontakt(I'm talking about NI releasing updates often and creating new libraries for it) that will keep it ahead. Both Halion 4 and MachFive3 have features that Kontakt currently can't touch. But Kontakt still has the support mentioned already, along with a better streaming engine and other features like the compression, etc. And you can use the Orange Tree Samples script(don't remember the name) to essentially replicate the megatrig functionality in Kontakt.
We'll see how it pans out. It would be great to have some good competition, and there are now three samplers capable of being the front runner if played right. But it's Kontakt's mountain to capture, and I see it taking quite a bit to knock them off at the moment.

exactly, I just want the dawn sampler, I don't need the giant soudnlib that comes with it! And NI, sell it for a nice round 100$ & I'll buy it right away!michael2 wrote:I would be stoked to get just the sampler.SampleScience wrote:I wish they could sell a Kontakt "Lite", for 400$ I can buy the fully featured FL Studio Signature (boxed version)...

I would also like the ability to use Kontakt instruments without buying the full Kontakt. If I was really interested in building instruments, then of course I would get the full version, but I am not a developer. Or at least, I don't want to be a developer when I am trying to make music. I don't mind putting together patches to get the sounds I want, but scripting is the last thing I want to do. I also don't want to put out the bucks it takes to get the full Kontakt. For the same money, I can buy Alchemy, Blade and Wusik Station. If I can get an expanded Kontakt Player for say $100 that would play third-party instruments, I would be all over that.
This space has been unintentionally left blank.

The library is included FREE... what you are paying for is the development and support of the app. And even WITHOUT the included library it would still cost the same. NI have said as much.SampleScience wrote:exactly, I just want the dawn sampler, I don't need the giant soudnlib that comes with it! My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

Do they charge per title or is it simply a flat fee for the right to make Kontakt libraries.hollowsun wrote:One could say much the same for NI. Their licensing costs are prohibitively expensive for the smaller developer.

Depends on the deal you have with NI, I guess...Uncle E wrote:Do they charge per title or is it simply a flat fee for the right to make Kontakt libraries.hollowsun wrote:One could say much the same for NI. Their licensing costs are prohibitively expensive for the smaller developer.
