People are assholes. You've had a great sounding track there!

I wonder how many of those people were from other companies.

I wonder if any of them were fortunate enough to have grown up with
a grand piano in the home? Heard a maestro or jazz great perform a concert
in a proper hall?, or have ever even owned a spinet?

Talk is cheap, Pianoteq is excellent.

I have the Rock Collection. Now i admit i can't tell wurli from rhodes so my opinion is kinda untrustworthy when it comes to e-pianos. I can just say i love the sound (whenever i load it up, the first thing my fingers want to play is "You're my best friend"!).

But the piano... I can confidently say i actually prefer the rock piano to the stock Pianoteq ones - they seem to have nicer top end to my ears, and i like the response as well. That depends on what you want to hear, though - if you are to play Chopin on this piano, i think you'd be disappointed, but for God's sakes, this is a rock piano! It's not supposed to handle Chopin

I *think* there's a demo already built in to the binary, so i encourage you to try those and see for yourself.

Finally got the chance to compare my v3 to the new update (which was free for me even though I got it used!), and I have to agree that the new D4 model is the best yet.

However I think I know why some people might be disappointed. Some of the pre-existing models do sound worse now, like the K1 and even the Rhodes. Both thinner and less punch, less body somehow. I compared them side by side and I really don't think they made progress with the older models.

Regarding the other instruments (Rhody etc), the sound is different because the volume is overall a bit lower in version 4, and the reverb is also different. By increasing the volume slightly and loading the legacy reverb preset in the reverb section, this should provide the same sound as in version 3.

I agree - the KIViR keyboards were a big reason to go for Pianoteq as far as I was concerned. And I love the Pleyel and the Bechstein too.

i am, for one, a huge fan of pianoteq cimbalom, tremendeously expressive addition as ethnic instrument, for instance !

I must do that, and from an initial play before I am tempted indeed

The only reason I've not sprung for these or the mallets before is that I use Ableton Live Suite, which includes the AAS physical modelled EPs and mallets. But I think I would actually use the Pianoteq ones more, so looks like my next purchase!

Yes the harpsichords and cimbalon are the best I have heard in a VSTi. The mallet instruments are also excellent - even though I have Sculpture and Chromaphone I still think the Pianoteq ones are more musical. The only model I don't like much is the Clavinet - I don't find it very playable for some reason.

i've download the new version but am going to wait until next week to install. At the moment I am doing something with PT3 and I don't want to run the risk of having to mess around with PT4 before I can use it confidently.

From reading this I can say I am happy the "Rock Piano" is great because that is also my main piano (and one of the prime reasons I got PT3 in the first place).

Are there pitfalls I have to be aware of, or can I simply run the installer and everything is automagically update to PT4? Including the licenses from PT3 and other stuff.

Interesting. Clavinet is as playable as all other instrument. Plus, you get the extended range (added bass notes are EXTREMELY meaty!)

I installed the upgrade in parallel to PT 3. No problem there. You also need to download the updated additions.
