Has Windows ever actually FOUND a solution to your problem?

Yeah I've noticed this too. But! Maybe the fixes come in Windows patches?

I have so few crashes it's not even an issue.......but then again I'm still on WinXP. Just waiting for you guys to get Win 7 or 8 debugged......

Not once.
And the Windows wizards always suggest everything you've already tried. Of course they would, as you have to be pretty desperate to turn to them

I've no idea, and the dialog's not sufficiently irritating for me to bother trying it out.jdt wrote:Meffy, just curious... has anyone actually disabled this and had success doing so? My experience with Vista is that whenever I disable, change or modify anything it usually initiates a downward spiral of other annoying little glitches in the operating system that eventually force me to either restore it or worst case scenario, total format and re-installation. It really seems to run best if I just leave it alone. :?

I was wondering if it ever finds solutions - apparently not, from the sound of it. I know by now it's useless, so I just click CANCEL so I can relaunch the f-ing app.
I most often see it with web browsers and InDesign CS5, which seems to do 99% of its crashing the last day or two before a deadline when I have the least patience for it. (I rarely have crashes on my recording PC, which is still running WinXP.)

On XP, not once.
Not one time did I even even have a glimmer of hope.
No help screen in any part of any corner of windows ever helped anyone.
+1 to it just being a joke.
It gets funnier if you are on a gutted OS with no help files, and the eventual help link you click in final desperation gives an error.
7 surprised me.
Twice now, it has repaired a mysterious networking issue on my frankenstein home network.
Now, thats not to say that it did not cause the issue to begin with, or that I could not have 'repaired' it myself in four seconds, but it still absolutely blew my mind.
So yes, I have seen a pop up in Win7 that says 'Windows has repaired yadda yadda....'
It exists.

I wonder what the next Window would look like if it *did* find a solution.

I've been a computer/pc/mainframe tech for 30+ years by profession, not home hobbiest or wannabe. Windows does not need to find a solution to a problem. That is for me to do.
There is no point to Microsofts silly "looking for a solution" time waster. I don't think I have ever seen it do anything more than waste my precious time.
The REASON Windows has issues is because it is the most flexible OS in high use, on the planet today. Sorry linux, you are not in high use even though, yes, you should be considered "more flexible" being open source, I'll give ya that.
Where Windows is a Hummer/swiss army knife/dump truck, Mac is just a simple toothpick, so it doesn't fail AS OFTEN. But I've seen PLENTY of mac fails... you mac guys need to learn optimization AND the power of a reboot. Yes, even macs benefit from clean boots. I can't stand working with mac and all it's limitations.
So, deal with windows, learn to optimize and learn to deal with the hiccups of a constantly "bleeding edge" system.
Problems happen a lot in my line of work, but they don't feel like problems anymore. Just a simple road bump to get over and move forward.

You're all wrong. Windows finds a solution to the problem every single time, except it's too embarrassed to admit that it's the problem.

I use both OS X and Windows all day every day. I never feel limited by either OS.I can't stand working with mac and all it's limitations
Peace,

Ditto. Can't see why anyone would think there were limitations.ZenPunkHippy wrote:I use both OS X and Windows all day every day. I never feel limited by either OS.I can't stand working with mac and all it's limitations
