How do I get my hiphop track to sound better?

How to do this, that and the other. Share, learn, teach. How did X do that? How can I sound like Y?

I found this video on the "tube", but you can achieve it with many other tools, no need to buy Geist or else, but this vid shows allot of my workflow (it's not my video) .... have a look.

"In music as in life, there are always multiple ways to accomplish the same task, but some ways are faster then others" (Unknown)

I don't know if the sound (vid) is the sound you want to achieve?

Let me know.

When you say sampled+sliced stuff, what do you mean?
When i play midi vsti - like a piano - i record it direkt to wav or bounce the track i played to wav, now i take this audio file and "slice" it, so i get nice little parts that i can play on my drumpads or midi keyboard, maybe i rearrange it a bit, to get a nice groove, that fits better to the drums. this concept is like the others said well the workflow from the infamous MPC, many DAW's have an similar option to cut audio files... I bounce every melody line this way to get the groove and sound i want...
Oh ok cool. Thanks for the video.

Do you have any songs you created yourself that I can hear as examples?

Also, what do you think of my new beat that I just posted yesterday?

I think what will help you most, rather than any quick fixes or sage advice, is keep making beats and tracks, and keep listening to hip-hop that you think is really well made.

It took me two full years to get to a place where I'm confident with my sound, and I'm still improving.
I run a netlabel http://oligopolistrecords.bandcamp.com
Free chill, hip-hop, lo-fi, ambient, experimental, for you! (Send me demos too!)

not my style at all, but it is a lot better than the first one you posted..not saying it's good, but still, better.

Referring to the first sample...

Roll off the some low end on that bass

Alternate the velocity of the hats: make every other one lower in velocity

To me, the snare sample is too slugish - to low in pitch

Also change velocities of the extra snare fills

Thanks for the advice. When adjusting velocities, how much adjustment should be made?
