The URL for part 4 is wrong. There is a 'bold' tag at the end of it. I tried it without the "" and it worked.

Ah, okay.... Yes, you are right... fixed it already. I think I've made a little mistake when editing the post. Thanks for telling, dburns.dburns wrote:The URL for part 4 is wrong. There is a 'bold' tag at the end of it. I tried it without the "" and it worked.
The links are working fine elsewhere -youtube description-.
I am now testing the Soundfont in a Hi-Fi Surround system. Oddly enough I edited it only using the laptop built-in speakers, because of mobility and flexibility reasons. The difference is huge, it's just like another world.
In addition, as I said before I think I accomplished my main goals with this soundfont and I won't update it, which also makes thing easier for everyone. I tested it enough and I find it quite balanced --although they might be flaws, nothing/nobody is perfect.
Sure you can always add a couple of things, touch and tweak here and there but I am not in favour of changing anything else in my end as of now nor in the future, because I haven't found any major flaws.
I hope you enjoy it. Good luck and take care of yourself people.

Sure, I for one find it perfect if someone wants to edit it or transform it into another format as long as it is/remains free.Crackbaby wrote:Could anyone please convert this to sfz (if author allows it ofc) so i can use it with that new sfz player from beat
Other than that, I have no experience with SFZ...

You'd need chicken systems translator or extreme translater .. but they cost quite a lot for just one conversion

Hi
Responding to Crackbaby's request earlier in the thread, I have used Extreme Sample Converter to convert to SFZ format. Links are attached:
Links below:
Part 9 : http://www.mediafire.com/?dsgw6d7t4s3d51i
Part 8 : http://www.mediafire.com/?fddgzc51uhhcmcn
Part 7: http://www.mediafire.com/?7d5boi1v53mn31p
Part 6: http://www.mediafire.com/?phw292zl36whrou
Part 5: http://www.mediafire.com/?ntpxbo15n3dq3zl
Part 4: http://www.mediafire.com/?6azkag3jnuwr4qy
Part 3: http://www.mediafire.com/?9b2i5ob0wb8wdad
Part 2: http://www.mediafire.com/?zg5zz7bhg8r8515
Part 1: http://www.mediafire.com/?s2we044nkc0kgdd
Total is around 1.3gb
Note that you are best using 7 zip to unzip these (zipped up using this). Winrar causes some issues.
Note also that there are a couple of misnamed files apparently...but I can't be bothered to start the whole process again!

I am completely unfamiliar with SFZ but I downloaded your files and it is really great to see all the samples organized and categorized in great detail within different folders. Nice stuff.
I can guess the hard work behind it, DavyAch.
On a different note, I have made a few simple tweaks offline, nothing important, but some tweaks I missed before.
I increased the Attenuation DB -Decibels- in the Timpani to 17,0. The Timpani could easily hide most instruments behind the harmony before (which I hate), it was a bit loud.
I decreased the Choir Aahs Attenuation DB to 0. It was at 20 or so but sometimes it was difficult to hear compared to other instruments.
Finally, I decreased the Overdriven Guitar Attenuation DB to 17. It was at 30 something, and some instruments used to hid it. Only for the Overdriven Guitar layer, not for the KamacOvdG layer.
The KamacOvdG layer is fine as it is, since I don't like that much its noisy samples, but it is good to have as a background for the Overdriven Guitar layer.
And that's basically it.
I don't like soundfonts to be noisy at all because I have a pretty sensitive hearing, and it also helps to avoid sound from going overboard. It is beneficial for PCs that feature crappy speakers -laptops mostly-, too, so they don't vibrate or distort the sound.
There are a lot of advantages to it, imho. Obviously sound quality is unaffected by it, cause if the samples are good they will sound fine, louder or not, as long as you keep the sound within reasonable limits -remember how Metallica's album Death Magnetic was so badly mixed because of loudness, and it only sounded fine in Guitar Hero 3, which was a game fine tweaked for excellent sound engineers (what a great sound it had).
Sound quality in Soundfonts and similar software or hardware synths is in reality limited -I think- by trying to fit sufficient sound samples for all possible orchestral instruments in a certain amount of space and the amount of care you put into them. Of course the effort put into the arrangement counts even more!
Well, have a nice day people. Cheers.

Some changes I have made in the Soundfont after listening to hundreds (or a thousand and then some, didn't count) of songs, and I am done with it.
- Choir Aahs. One of my favourite instruments. Decreased Attack and Decay to 0 for an immediate response --some songs might need it.
Lots of samples, it takes time. Tip: create the new Attack and Decay values and then select Copy, then Paste the new values for each sample, it's a lot quicker this way.
- Slow Strings. Decreased Attenuation DB from 27.3 to 10.7, so it doesn't hide behind the other isntruments in some songs harmony.
- Overdriven Guitar. Copied and Pasted the UberGuitarVLeads instrument to add some *background* consistency to the preset.
Best regards.
Cheers
