Are they now removing the Komplete Crossgrade, too?!? I can only find it at a couple of online stores and at the NI shop.

I posed the same question to N.I about Session String Pro Upgrade price not being 50%, their reply...munchkin wrote:Yes, this is a real shame. The full version of Session Strings Pro is now 149 euros in the sale but the upgrade is still 199 euros. So in reality buying the full version is cheaper but still only a 25% saving if you already own Session Strings. I wonder why they didn't just make it 50% discount for everyone? It's annoying considering I bought Session Strings when it first came out before the pro version existed and upgraded Komplete for the fourth time to the latest version while it was still on pre-order. I mean how much more loyalty do they need before they give us a break?audio/fault wrote:great... and no update deals for loyal customers who made kontakt this big...
So maybe you'll get what you want later, maybe...Native Instruments wrote:Hello,
Thank you for contacting Native Instruments!
The current offer only includes 10 products in their full versions due to the 10th
birthday of KONTAKT. Please be patient for some time, there might be an
interesting offer in the foreseeable future. If you need the software right now,
please purchase the full version as it's currently cheaper than the upgrade.

Know what else is kinda wierd? I can't find Kontakt at any of the major online retail places... sweetwater, musiciansfriend, etc. Wassupwidat? Makes me kinda nervous, actually... all this phasing out, disappearing stuff...

I know. But still… why can't I buy Kontakt and Kontakt upgrades at an online retailer? Maybe Kontakt isn't going away… but maybe also it will soon no longer be available as a standalone product... unless you go exclusively through NI... if at all. I have a hard time believing all those retailers have absolutely zero stock of boxed NI full and upgrades. Or maybe it has all already been shipped back to NI for proper disposal.4lb Kitty wrote:They won't phase Kontakt out. It's far to big and popular. Is there another sampler that even comes close???
I have no need for Komplete. I do not want Komplete. Actually, all I really want is the 100MB Kontakt engine freaking download!!! Can I have that, please NI?!?! Can you please just give me the 100MB engine download??!?! Plaeaeaeaease!!!!! I do not need 339874GB of crap… I need the 100MB engine download. That's it. Period, end of story. Thanks. Not that saying "thanks" will make any difference, but I said it anyway.

Well I have been looking to get a sampler and have been eyeing Kontakt for a long time. There are two things that I'm uncertain about. Do I have to install the Gigs of samples that come with it? I don't want to put all that sample content on my laptop since I probably won't use it. (I guess I could load it on a external hard drive, but...)
The other thing is that it sounds like a few of you have said that Kontakt is unintuitive. That doesn't sound good to me... Like everyone, I really enjoy a smooth workflow and am wondering if Kontakt will get in the way of just loading up samples and tweaking them a bit to sequence. Any other opinions on this? What's so unintuitive?

No, the library is not required… I have K1, 2, 3, and 4 on one of my machines… no library…stikygum wrote:Well I have been looking to get a sampler and have been eyeing Kontakt for a long time. As far as "unintuitive"… I've used it for many years, so am fairly comfortable w/ it… But to begin using it you have to wrap your head around the "veritcally linear" interface. It's not the easiest thing to get used to, but once you do, it's perfectly fine, IMO. There are other soft samplers perhaps with better overall layout, but not the performance, features, 3rd party support… If you're just loading others' libraries, then the interface is not better or worse than most patch-loading synths/samplers, etc…. but if you're going to be doing a lot of your own library creation/tweaking, then there's definately a learning curve…

exactly, soniccouture and my own stuff. mostly my own stuff
as far as intuitive or not i'd say that Kontakt is medium, not totally unintuitive but not super easy to get to grips with either. But i think it is well worth the the time to learn it. the whole "ease of use" consideration is highly overrated IMO. people used to spend lifetimes learning and perfecting the use of an instrument and now there's a contingent of people who want to be able to play like a virtuoso in a few weeks on a new instrument.

Yeah, ALLOT of people are having issues. Like I said over there, I'd be pissed. I mean, funk guiarist was the one I still really kinda want but 8 GB (and that's just the DOWNLOAD SIZE!
) and then to have this issue? Plus, is memory serving me correctly that DL's are time limited? If so, THAT is a going to leave a mark

I think I'm blocked from trying funk guitarist for the time being. No big deal though. I'm sure tech support will straighten it out.hibidy wrote:Yeah, ALLOT of people are having issues.
