I am not sure what year the bass is from, I think my friend bought it new sometime around 1999/2000. I have a mid 90's Japan made Squire Strat guitar that plays and sounds awesome though. Every time I play it through a different rig, it makes me not want to spend money to get a pricey Fender American made stratjens wrote:Have Squire really become that bad?metalifuxx wrote:the Precision pickup can be very muddy and flabby, and almost always pops/distorts if the volume knob is up all the way.
I believe in the past they built really good quality.

I had an '88 Squire Strat. Not bad, really. Neck felt good, pickups were ok. I seem to recall getting it new for $200 from Guitar Center.
