Arturia eLicenser Rubbish!

Had the Arturia Oberheim installed on my old iMac. I upgraded to one of these new Mac Minis... when I go to migrate from the iMac, I look to see how to deauthorize the Oberheim on my old computer. Cant see how to do this.
Get a new activation code for the Oberheim and install on new Mini. Turns out the Mini has video dropouts. Exchange computer. Reinstall Oberheim. G*damn new Mini has got video dropouts too - by now I read and understand it's a widespread problem - and get this, on this third activation I get a little pop-up that says words to the effect of, 'we couldn't possibly give you another one of these activation codes... really, be reasonable old chap."
So. Knowing I will need to reinstall this at least one more time, I had jump through hoops and play the contact-us-if-you-can Arturia support game to explain the situation and ask for another code. In all fairness, I did receive a new code and the wait wasn't nearly as long as I was fearing, but... the person on the other said words to the effect of, "by the way, we couldn't possibly give you another one of these activation codes... really, be reasonable old chap - we recommend purchasing the hardware dongle."
Buy a dongle? Yeah? No.
Developers: If you are going to provide LIMITED activation codes of your products for your customers, allow us to DEACTIVATE our plugins to redeem them later for reinstallation, etc. I understand that these companies are jumping through their own hoops trying to combat piracy or whatever, but why punish the paying customers?
So, I'm doubtful that I'd buy another Arturia product. Contrary to all of this, when I went to reinstall my FXpansion stuff, I ran into a similar issue where things weren't activating through their licensing app. I emailed them on a Friday, they reset my activations on Monday. No hassles. No lectures. So good on them.

I've always rather liked Applied Acoustics' copy protection scheme (challenge/response). Unlike NI, there's no need to install a pain in the ass authorization program that requires updating. Just copy and paste a couple of numbers and you're up and running. I do agree that the Syncrosoft copy protection sucks the worst. I personally haven't had any problems running both Arturia and Waldorf plugs on the Syncrosoft eLicenser, but I might be in the minority in that regard. However, it does always make me a bit nervous when it asks me to run "maintenance" tasks every single day.
As a side question, is there any way to insure our volatile software licensers? Or do we just have to do take it in the shorts when the eLicenser dies?

I'm not entirely happy about the NI Service Center thingie either, but it is all one big combined process with authorizations and updates so at least you FEEL like you're getting something out of the deal. But it means I can never ever give up this e-mail account.
My Steinberg e-licenser dongle has never given me one single problem, but I'm terrified that it will.

was in a shop to have a look for a new DAW so the forced me to have a look to the new Cubase 7. After more that an hour I went out the shop because they were not able to start Cubase 7 because it was a new installation and it had to scan thru the Plugins and their Arturia NFR was out of date, so every time C7 tries to scan an Arturia Synth it crashes Cubase.
So the question is for me Steinberg owns Syncrosoft since some time why they are not give a user better programs that do more than crashing when a licence is not found.
That the plugin will not work without dongle this could be accepted, but to crash the program in that a situation is very very poor in my eyes.
Feel like they have stolen my time for nothing!!
In that situation the only thing that helps is to delete the not useable plugins till you have your key again and then a new install when you have it.
Very strange behavier!

@opee4us: do you have a support ticket number? Please give it to me and we will handle it ASAP.
@ jowen : Maybe the shop did not update the latest version of the plugins but it should not crash anymore when the license is not found.

I'm not a Cubase user, so I don't know....don't they have a VST manager app that can bypass plugins prior to launch? I know with Logic you can single out plugins you don't want to load. I've had that problem with a few Arturia plugs in the past (minimoog V), but after updating it it stopped crashing Logic.jowen wrote:every time C7 tries to scan an Arturia Synth it crashes Cubase.
