The funny thing is that over on the Reaper forums, hardly anyone questioned the usability of WT Imperial.
There were dozens upon dozens of pages of drooling even before the theme was released.
And when it was, White Tie was voted God.
While his theme deserves a lot of praise because it has taken Reaper's GUI skinning to a whole new level, it's certainly not the perfect theme for everyone.

I really like it but it would be much better if the mixer could be reduced in size so that it can be docked underneath the track pane on a 24" monitor. I also think it would be much better if the track buttons were laid out in two rows instead of one long row so that the track pane could be reduced in width while still allowing access to all the buttons. This theme looks stunning but seems unnecessarily large while sacrificing a convenient work flow. I hope it's adapted to more realistic proportions.

This was made for a specific purpose... to be used on large monitors. Start changing stuff and its not the same theme anymore.

There are a few people attempting mods of this theme on the Reaper forum, so check those if you like.

Did you try the "Dead Ringer" theme? WT's smaller, kinder version of Imperial. :D

After a few days I'm still loving this theme, the large mixer works for me personally. After initially thinking the theme to be too dark, it is funny how I went with the Blackface options and made it darker. I did customize some of the colors like the loop background and transport displays to lighter things. I want some new toolbar icons though. Anyhow with this theme (and others i guess) it is easy to swipe to arm, mute, and solo multiple tracks, I'm finding that useful. At the very least this theme got me interested in Reaper as my primary DAW once again. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? :-o

I really don't know why no one is talking about Walters other 'cut down' theme?

Oh,yes I do,its because his site doesn't mention it which is :smack:

Its called 'Colonial' and you can get it if you press 'no' on the download option on the main site. Its designed for smaller monitors and is damn good in its own right. For some reason its actually called the 'Dead Ringer' Colonial 4000XL but he really shoulda just dropped the Dead Ringer nomenclature.

For old school hardware users these themes are the dogs goolies.
For the more infantile...err...serotine...err I mean....erm....contemporary members of KVR they may be of no use.

"Dead Ringer" -> "Behringer", for those who didn't figure out the pun. :)

Oh it is superb.

Been using the Dead Ringer too.

But there are so many other great themes.

Still, doesn't make the bugger any easier to use though ;-)

Just got a 1920*1080 res monitor which is the minimum, so finally got to check it out.

What a talent. And so nice to give it away for free.

Anyway big :hihi: to all the REAPER forum chaps :help:.

Thanks WT.

Edit:
Oh btw, I still need to use two monitors to get the mixer in the picture.
That's why I use Dead Ringer. Oh well, one day I'll have a 42". Who needs a mixer anyway?
