I just heard ABBAs "Lay all your love on me". Yeah that stop sound is ahead of it's time, I mean it's 80s (sounds like vocals with reverb, maybe beat delay and of course pich down).

Stop effect like in Blue System is definitely the most used effect used at the time. I can't believe they didn't use female vocal for chorus, this is a shock! :O
I haven't yet looked at my samples, but I'm beginning to wonder where can I find those "laser" type of effects. BTW how to get that hit?

Every cheap synthesizer in the 90ies had at least one ore more whoosh or laser FX or some strange high-pitched toms...

There are tons of such FX presets and FX sample libraries out there...

If you really want to imitate DJ Bobo, you have to ascertain that you repeat the same 4-note-motif over the whole song and that your "rap" is 1. meaningless and 2. in basic English so that it can be understood by kindergarten kids. Ya' know, kids are the only target group that still buy CD's...

Only David Hasselhoff can surpass DJ Bobo in terms of "symplify your lyrics", that's why he was only successful in the German market. "I've been locking for freedom..."

Great stop effect there, and I love Dj Bobos pronouncation. That's a man who goes against the flow: Caring shit about sounding English but sticks to his own hard Swiss mountain accent!

I remember he released a song entitled (how it's spelled on the cd cover) "When love is the price, freedom is the cost". Now shouldn't that have been "prize", or did it have a deeper meaning that we all missed?

Stop effect at 0:57, typical Eurodance with a reverse cymbal building up to it.

The noise effect with a long attack that starts the song is also a little pearl in itself.
He prolly ripped every sound here from someone else, as he's not known as the most inventive guy on the continent, but has great production skills within Eurodance.
And ... you gotta give him that his concept with singing like an old witch in the verses and then thick layered soprano voices in the chorus at least is original - although it was a group of men calling themselfes "Systems in blue" who made the chorus vocals for him - as well as in Modern Talking.

I doubt that Dieter Bohlen did much by himself - IMO he got it produced by others. Without Thomas Anders he would never have got so much success as he had. Because Thomas Anders can really sing (without pitch shifter), and I like his voice.

I hope that's not the kind of song that azoc is composing - because every Modern Talking and Blue System song sounds the same...

Gazebo was a great musical talent and in a different league than the rest of the Italo boys. I love the low budget Italo disco from back then. It has alot of pioneer spirit in it, but Gazebo.. he rocked. I still listen to either the first album or the Telephone Mama one that came afterwards sometimes.
He was also the man behind Dolce Vita by Ryan Paris. Also a very well thoughtover production. You have that heavy compression on the bell sound, that makes it completely unique, all those little thin sinus sounds with kind of a slideguitar role in the song, the claps with long reverb.. the bass figure that's more sophisticated than just the regular style etc.. really a neat tune.

The GEMA just wants to prohibit that people are downloading the songs with Youtube downloaders, because this is a big lost of sales. For every click on the video, the want several cents of fee, but Youtube wants pay less...

BTW, I will test the Cyberghost, I think he should gel perfectly with my REAPER...

You'll need an ATARI to make real Eurodance music...

And, because I didn't see it spotted, a JD-800 as well! The only 90s era synth from the big three with almost knob per parameter.

I find "american hit" eurodance to be a bit of a guilty pleasure, along with new jack swing. That said, I hated a lot of the italo-dance stuff that was more popular in europe at the same time.

You need C,Am,F,G appropriately arpegiated, a Juno-106 (or-similar), 909/808, a deep rap with the right tonality, a big female voice, and no supersaw, per se, just big unisons.

Also, fewer modern production tricks. Almost everything back then was external so the percussion isn't overproduced. You can really hear how dry and simple it is in the intro to Mr. Vain.

I also like some of this stuff from a slightly earlier period. Almost all analog; claps, delay, and sproingy toms everywhere!

Wow, 2 off my most favourite songs ever, and KOTO vistors got to be the best instrumental ever for me... awesome, I love Eurodance
Well thankyou for this awesome thread and wonderfull discussion guys, awesome stuff and beautiful memories... that Scotch Disco Band I love it never got sick of it even though was playing every 5 minutes in every club, cafe, disco, radio station etc... Oh by the way... about the chord progression... I swear I didn't know LOL... I've been using same or similar but i thought i came to it all by myself LOL... it must have subconsciously stuck in my head after all this years.. although i must admit don't actually use much C major - Aminor instead or C minor... for last OSC competition used Cm, Ab, Fm, Gm
