The taskmanager is more a toy.

I only worked on 2000 and xp there is also a kill cmd. As i remember you had to download from MS.

The same happen on my XP machine running Live with MME and/or ASIO drivers. Killing Live.exe in task manager does not help but it will kill itself after 10 minutes. Yes it is annoying. Unplugging USB or Firewire cable does not help in my case.

again, you _still_ have to manually kill the process in the taskmanager, when unplugging or switching off the unit (before or after). switching it off/unplugging it _without_ killing the process manually will _not_ kill the process. at least not here.

If you want to REALLY kill ANY process, even malware, and also a much better process monitor than the default Windows Task Manager:

Yes, the Windows Taskmanager is a bit limited and doesn't kill all processes. This "ghost" process stuff with Asio and M-Audio is a long time problem and Afaik there was never a working solution.
If this "Processhacker" tool can kill all processes (also such ghost processes) this would be of course a good solution. I don't think that M-Audio will fix this bugs.

Any DAW that crashes becomes a "zombie"
