Replace Nebula Eq? But there are so many 'hardware' units

I meant to say "something as good as Nebula EQs". I almost never replace my tools once they're part of my workflow and used in many projects (backwards compatibility). Sorry if I didn't write it right the first time.

Well now you're talking :) Not that you were totally off track eh?. for me at least I'm never going to look another sampled eq in the eye again when the material needs tonal rebalancing on the side of "needs more hm-highs" without thinking about the Clariphonic DSP.

This thing is brilliant. Anyone loaded this up into VST analyser? I'd like to see it, I get an error when I try to do it here. It's just on demo but its amazing how you think you have a decent mix going then you start using this plug-in on it.

I know it's just an EQ, but it's clever.

I just compared it to the MAAG. Very different result on the master. Very different. The Maag can get you brightness, but it's like your just boosting a certain part of the spectrum to get brightness. Clariphonic acts as though it's somehow working on each sound, it doesn't just bring out high end but it brings out a lot of detail in all the different parts. It's much classier.

Agreed, the Clariphonic DSP is fantastic. It's one of those plugins that probably everyone should have.

it is really good.

This is probably the least hesitation I've ever had with getting a plug-in. I feel I'd be stupid not to get it tbh.

Does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative to this plugin that doesn't require ilok? I have my Cubase dongle with a few things on it (mostly NI stuff) but that's it.

Check out the Plug-in Alliance Maag EQ4. You can do some gentle boosts which can open up the low end a lot. You can give it a small 2.5k boost and then choose a higher band for the air band, say 10k. Its' really nice.

Weird. I did the test on VST analyser. It looks similar to the MAAG. It's just a very very wide boost. Well it's more than that. You have to look or I might post pictures some time. It's nothing I don't think you couldn't do with a stock equalizer. But I imagine fine tuning it to sound quite as good would be difficult.

Update @ Sendy. SPL Passeq can do some subtle settings of the Clariphonic. I can't hear the difference here or if there I can it's minute.
