Fourth decade? And you got your first synth in 85? That would have made you 5 wouldn't it?rob_lee wrote:Lol im 3yrs into my fourth decade now so i think we're pretty safe here haha.danbroad wrote:Hell yeah, I'd like to join the 'too old' club too. I like real synths over software synths in the same way as I like driving a real car instead of playing Forza.
I mean I like both, but only one of them is actually real

(analog)hardware synths make sense to me on just their sound alone...
im talking pure analog ,not VA crap
I mean working entirely in the computer is super beneficial ,just load that track up and everything is in time and in tune!im nearly 40yo and come from the old hardware days and trust me workflow withing a computer is miles better than the old hardware days
ive done the soft synth thing for the last 10 years and im now a little bored and it is the mouse that is the problem and maybe not so much the sound
the old analogs are back out and im loving em!,no presets, out of time midi problems, crackling knobs are all back but man...THAT SOUND OF ANALOG-YOU JUST CANNOT BEAT IT

It's a good age to be. See a synth you like? Buy it! No more saving it for months/years to get itrob_lee wrote:I never did like school mate, fifth decade it is then.. i'm already 3yrs in to it but feeling pretty good here.cytospur wrote: Yep, I'm afraid you're in to your fifth decade, like me

I learned keyboard in my childhood, too.rob_lee wrote:but at 6 i started learning piano etc.. always wanted to learn guitar though. never did
But this was my first instrument in the late 70ies...it had such a great analog sound, and by combining them all, it was like having 4 oscillators...
