Cableguys TimeShaper. End of history.

I tried a bunch of free or M4L tape-stop effects over years, but they were all poor and unreliable. This one simply does the job.

Waves Vinyl has a very nice slow-down effect. Presumably they were focused on the sound of vinyl, but I don't think you can say it sounds like vinyl vs tape. Being a user of both analogue mediums I was very surprised at how realistic the Waves emulation is.

Oh yeah, of course. It's a vinyl slow-down effect of course, but can my just as useful, just as creative, just as cool.

On the plus side that plugin can do insane things to your mix if you were looking at adding a bit of "vinyl flavour" to it.

KiloHearts have their "Tape Stop". Very simple, but does exactly what it is supposed to do. Reasonably priced (and can get it even a bit cheaper from JRRShop

)

You'd can do this with Varispeed in Infiltrator 2 as well. If you go with the forward reverse mode you can even go past stopped to play the audio backwards
