I so disagree with the OP. Older organs and electric pianos have such character and unparalleled warmth ime.mellotronaut wrote:+ 1robojam wrote:I completely disagree with that. They are great and there's no soft synth that comes close to making me think it's in some way more inspriring. It's probably why Ray had little time for synths, and why they have lasted so long with the advent of better technology.AstralExistence wrote:any electronic musicians eve play an old skool organ? a real one. its the most uninspiring piece of shit for people that are used to todays bazillion sound capability synths.
I have played them and if I had the money would certainly invest in some classic tone wheel and electronic organs over anything newer.
They have a specific use.
That said, and I know its early but I'd love a Manzarek pack

well, feel free to create a new genre then, how about, organ dubstep? or industrial dance with organs as leads, or, who knows, maybe you could create some super awesome epic trance using organs as pads. or, you could create some sick as hell organ basslines for the next drum and bass banger.robojam wrote:I completely disagree with that. i was referring to an electronic musicians viewpoint as in somebody who write dancey, or semi dancey music. as in, the experience an electronic dance composer has when trying a very simple instrument like an organ. of course, that has no meaning when the doors wrote rock music, but at least read what i wrote before telling me you don't agree with something i said

You said "electronic musicians". Organs are electronic and have been used by Tangerine Dream, JM Jarre, Suicide, etc.AstralExistence wrote:i was referring to an electronic musicians viewpoint as in somebody who write dancey, or semi dancey music. as in, the experience an electronic dance composer has when trying a very simple instrument like an organ. of course, that has no meaning when the doors wrote rock music, but at least read what i wrote before telling me you don't agree with something i said
So in short - I did read what you wrote. It seems like you didn't though.

You made a mistake when you said "electronic music" instead of "electronic musicians viewpoint as in somebody who write dancey, or semi dancey music". If you'd like me to pretend you made it perfectly clear first time round and that myself and two others didn't comment then I'm good with that. It's not a big deal.AstralExistence wrote:seriously? is that how this is going to go down![]()
Like vurt said, not really the place for it.

The lad wrote some good stuff and he was that good on his organ (missus) that they didn't need a bass player, which I'm sure was nice.
