You should substitute your addiction with some harmless occupation...audientronic wrote:I think what's weird about KVR is that you get to talk about your addiction and feed it at the same time. It's like going to an AA meeting where they pass out booze. Oh wait, this isn't the AA meeting, this is the pub. My bad.
For example, try Lego...

Interesting topic...
I guess one reason for buying so many plugins is that one is not really happy with anything one already has.
Like tourists we go to all kinds of places only to realize that what appeared to be the perfect place is yet another mediocre place.
Another reason might be that many people (including myself) seem to work alone, without being overly talented. Thus there is no musical input from singers and musicians and one tries to compensate with sounds, which of course doesn't work.
I have felt like that for some time, luckily I only make music for fun, I don't have to live on it. So there is no pressure or anything. Still, I want to make a few nice tracks before I bite the dust

The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. *I* don't have a problem. Just because I check Marketplace 4-5 times a day, Bargain Center every other hour and do searches for plugins before my morning coffee doesn't mean I have a problem. Just because I am compelled to buy a new synthesizer once or twice a day, and spending my food allowance, and this month my rent - doesn't mean I have a problem. I *love* my VSTs!! Ok, so once I download and validate them, I rarely see them again, but they're MINE!!!! Fortunately, I'm on a Mac, so my selection is rather limited.
Nope, *I* don't have a problem.
Does anyone know of a VST that will make beautiful music with no help from the user, while I'm off buying another VST? Because I don't have any idea how to use any of it...
Thank goodness my iPad has 2 gigs of space left on it!

Same here... other than Mountain Biking which I love (someone else mentioned) this is pretty much my single hobby/activity for fun. I feel it beats watching TV, playing video games, the bar scene, eating out, etc. However, it bothers me when I look at my VST folder and realize "I have never spent any quality time getting to know any of my synths, accept for the old FREE ones from years and years ago, before I took the $ commitment."TheoM wrote: But i can't help myself i love my toys. I don't go out any more so it's the only thing i spend money on TBH.
It also bugs me that I have spent all this money on more digital wares when people in the world are starving (probably my town as well) and I just cannot help but pass up a "good" deal in the marketplace for another .dll in my folder.
ps. I read that Cableguys Waveshaper CM has been released! Something is compelling me to get it, although I never even use Wave Shapers! Awg!
Do we have anyone who practices exorcism here?

Hey, if five bucks gets rid of the cold sweats and helps you get some sleep, I say go for it.vata44 wrote:

Yes I have that VST. It's $279, and they never have sales. Well almost. Last week they sent a newsletter out that they were having a one-time-only-one-day sale. It was $10! Ilok only, though.hueynym wrote:

HOW could I have missed it!!! I thought I was on every mailing list on the internet. With my luck it's probably CP/M only. The price is okay, I spent that this morning. On Freeware. My USB dongle chain already has 2 iLoks (they fill up SO quickly) and a couple of e-licensers, but I'm sure I could add another somehow.audientronic wrote: Yes I have that VST. I think it's ironic that I still seem to prefer the TAL stuff over Waves.
But I refuse to admit I need

Just this last one to buy and this.
Just this last time.
No I mean it this time...one more, and I done.
I swear I'll just get this one, and nothing ever again.
