Thanks. As a sidenote. THE Equator D5 had my interest as well at THE time being. However since I couldn't find a dealer to go and give it à listen, I couldn't make up my mind on them. They seem to bo hard to find in Europe... No dealers in Belgium...
And you thanks for the elaborate comparrison. I'm in the market for monitors as well and I was leaning towards the Yamaha's too so I'll give them a thorough testdrive.

Btw. bax-shop.nl is the absolute best dealer in Belgium/The Netherlands.
They might even order something for you that's not in stock !

@Spiritos: actually that's where I drove to Finally make up my mind and equally bought them at THE store. Heck, I even received discount as They were given promotions on everything that weekend. Wasn't aware but it was very welcomed. :D Thanks for THE info wasn't aware you could buy not listed stuff as well!

Ps: first time I went to listen to monitors, I heard THE hs80 and wasn't really impressed at that time. I wasn't prepared, didn't had music with me that I knew and would probably have gone with THE krk. But really THE hs8 and music of my choice no matter THE style: day & night!

Good choice on the yammies, I had a pair of hs80's for about 7 years from new and they done the job , even with their backs against the wall with the rear porting they seems reliable in translation .

The best buy you could of made in that price range :)

Freq
You start at A finish at B and everything else in-between is what you make it .......... that's life and music

I wasn't accusing you of hating or envying btw, but it seemed like a good time to make a point.
hey, no worries. as someone who has bi polar disorder i'm not about to hate or envy anyone with such obstacles to overcome :hug:

@Divian - enjoy the yammies :)

What about Mackie MR5 or MR8? They are in the same price range but how do they compare to the Yamaha HS80 or HS8?

Post

Alex,

I've listened to Mackies as well (I think it were those you mentioned, but not sure really, they look the same). I would have bought the RP8 over the Mackies I heard because the sound was a bit too muddy, even compared to the RP8. It just wasn't the sound I was looking for.

I'm glad I went with 8" woofers. But really, go listen to them if you can and once you buy them, don't look back. 8)

ps: I have to admit, ear fatigue is more noticable on the Yamaha's (for longer sessions).
