Thanks. I have the wobble. I have Itchy's synths. Maybe I'm doing Synth 1 wrong, but the dubstep bank is yet another disappointing set. I can't blame the designers, I just don't like the sound of the synth. I prefer the Korg m1 for those simple dreamy sounds, but it's not free. What I'm looking for at this point are instructions for making those amazing sounds in the videos I've linked to. It's hard to describe which sounds they are, but I think they stand out enough to be recognized as my focal points.

This is my fault. I'M the one he was directing his comment to. I'm a slow learner but I share what I learn and continue to grow. I love all the information I've learned from KVR even though I admittedly am very much an amateur. I don't mind accepting that. It means I have room to improve and make better songs and recordings. It's worth the trade-off of looking stupid once in a while. I greatful to you all. Kriminal, for your synths too (you are the same Kriminal, correct?)

ok, i apologise for upsetting you, but really, c'mon, how many threads have we seen here over the last few years about the same stuff? Its pretty basic synthesis, its not complicated...some ppl are just too lazy to even bother

I agree that LFO filter cutoff is everywhere,
but many dubstep artists use automation to do their wobbles.
They have spent a lot of time writing the automation events.
I think good dubstep is as hard and time-consuming as any other genre.

As a synthesist urself Krim- I thought you might even like dubstep.
There are many artful songs out there, and they are pushing synths from all angles.

This thread is not even about 'wobbling'.
Experienced sound designers should be hearing a whole lot more than just an LFO going on in some of this music.

Camel audio Alchemy Player is free and has some free presets and i think they sell some dubstep sound library or minimal techno for like 35 to 59 bucks . Just trying to help out with a free option and a pay option as well .

I love Alchemy Player and have bought a few banks. I checked out the dubstep bank as soon as I heard about it. What I heard is bland to me. You'd think the patch designers would have taken advantage of the remix pad to get some Skrillex out of it.

What DAW are you in? If you're in FL Studio for example, it comes with a synth called Sytrus that is an FM synth. I'm assuming you're looking for all of those formant/siren/screamy sounds and if that's what you are looking for FM is the best for it. So just check your DAW to see if it comes with an FM synth than search how to make a "dubstep growl" for example. Here's a free FM synth if you wanna try this out, hope I helped

I've been trying free FM synths. I can't find anything like Sytrus. I'm getting some nasty sounds out of Ganymed, but I haven't dialed in anything I'd use yet.

It's weird, I'd always though of FM synthesis as bad. I associated FM with 80's ballads, toy keyboards, and Sound Blasters.

Freeware dubstep set up?
