The overload information is captured during the process, a conversion from a .wav file cannot "guess" what is the overloading on your cabinet.Let's say I convert an IR from (say) GodsCab to .tur, with the overload information (as it is created with specific algos), am I forced to use the microphones in WoS III then?
The miking part requires a LOT of measurements with the cabinet and all the microphones of the list. This is only possible in our studio right now and, again, you don't have that in a regular .wav file.
A Torpedo .tsr file (the proprietary format) is somehow equivalent to 20 000 different IRs (one for each position). We are doing IR synthesis actually.
So, basically WoS III, can read your wav files, no problem, but only the cabinets given through the Two Notes Store have all the possibilities, and you just have the Overload with a .tur you make by actually measuring your cabinet;
Take a look at the user's manual of WoS III I hope it is better explained.
