Honestly the cover isn't bad. I like the font and the colors. I think what throws it off a bit is the blocked out area under the album title. That makes it look a bit rushed, or a bit dated. I realize you want to make sure the title is readable, but in such cases maybe put a colored border around the font instead (white around black text, black around white, etc) or something like that. In any case I'm no designer.

After I looked at it more (and looking again just now), it really isn't bad. Just wanted to point out I am not trashing it, I like it. Those were just my thoughts when I first saw it so it was reassuring to hear you say you were talking to a designer about covers.

I use facebook... I use it to constantly complain about having no fans :hihi:
... but seriously, I do think you need facebook or some kind of blog, I've got a few loyal fans who I don't know personally and they seem to appreciate me letting them know what I'm working on and such.
I get good support from a local indy' radio station, so I suggest sending CD's out, I don't bother getting fancy ones made, I just burn my own CD's, and put a CD Stomper label on them that clearly says "promo copy"
I don't even bother promoting myself to people who know me personally.

Oh, here's some spam...

That's OK! I really wanted to have a more professionally-done cover though and the designer I've contacted seems really capable. I want to have a finished CD that I can be proud of!

There are some interesting points, somebody wrote in a blog where he comes to the conclusion that the song/artist needs a story.
The most common example of loss leaders in music is when new artists offer music for free to "gain exposure". The challenge, then, becomes creating a real (like, really, REALLY real) strategy on how to maximize that exposure, and ultimately drive it somewhere more costly. The marketing and sales plan of: A) uploading a track on Soundcloud, B) posting that link on Facebook/Twitter, and C) crossing your fingers, is pretty limited.
...
Once you have both tons of exposure and a story people are connecting with and sharing, then you flip the switch
