Heh, let me know if you ever do: I used to know the keyboards and orchestration parts in my sleep...my first professional band back in the 80's (Philly/NJ club circuit) was called "Kashmir" and gee, can you guess what song we just HAD to play again and again, every single damned night?Soniccat wrote:Been wanting to do a cover of Kashmir for awhile now, got to, got to, got to, got to. Someday.

(which is the reason why I left it off my list: had to play it so many times the whole band got sick to death of it and eventually we wound up trying to play it as fast as humanly possible to get it over with. Imagine playing it at Ramones velocity...)
small world... when physical graffiti came out I lived on tanglewood rd (off penman) in jax beach and as I was reading these posts it took me back there sitting in my room after surfing all day listening to p/g on my stylin' 8-track. Then I see your post... funny (for the rest of you this is a really small town we're talking about). Those double album 8-tracks didn't hold up well though... think all told I bought about three copies.gnu23 wrote:Yeah, Physical Graffiti (Down By The Seaside) came out the same year I was 17 and had just moved from the midwest to Jax Beach, Florida - great time to move - right before my senior year of high school - major upheavality.
Long story short, that song and the Who's "Sea and Sand" off Quadrophenia (hell, the whole album) resonated very strongly with me then and still does now. But of Graffiti and Quadrophenia as albums, those two songs got woven permanently into my DNA during that period. I can't hear either of them without being instantly transported back there.
Oh well, enough "Rambling On"
