Where did you put the instr files? I just tried one which I put in app file sharing/presets /PCM synth

It showed up in caustic but caustic crashed as soon as I tried to load it.
Yup. I have the same problem with some of the patches. What a pity. Now I have to sort them accordingly.

Edit: Seems only few of them actually are working. Namely the drumaxx kits and sfx kits. Sorry for raising any expectations :(

Do not know if Caustic 3 is backward compatible with Caustic 2 or if the iOS version is compatible with the Android version, but I cannot see any reason it shouldn't be.
Yes to both, Caustic 3 can load Caustic 2 files and file format is the same for Android, iOS and PC versions.

The FTP server works well and is not that hard to use.

It's there in the AppStore description that it can load sf2 and instr files ...... That and your post are what made me press the button to buy it.

Yeah. Sorry for contributing to that. Hopefully it will be fiixed so it will work as advertised.

Wow! Too many good things right now. Just spent a bit on other music purchases recently and have a few others lined up to buy, and now this. I was very impressed with the video when it showed sampling and setting loop points.

Hey guys, if you have .instr that don't load, can you send them my way? The feature is still a bit rough around the edges as I could only get my hands on so many test files. I know I found a few older Xewton files that used a weird format but the isn't supposed to crash if it can't load them, only error out. It's a closed format so I'm doing a bit of guessing to support it, it's possible I missed something.

I promise to get this more stable as time goes on, but I'd love some help by way of examples.

Thanks, and thanks for the support so far.

Hi Singlecell
I have send some examples. Actually it is only a few files that can load into the PCM synth. Most of the Drumaxx patches and a few efx patches. Could be really cool if you could fix it.

Cheers

Thanks for the all the files, I'll take a look under the debugger to see why they're not working.

I tested all the .instr I could find on FL's sharing thread and testing with stuff I exported myself from FL desktop but it's possible there are more version formats out there. (especially the Music Studio versions)

I'll do my best to get this fixed up or remove the dotpoint from the feature list if I can't get it right.

I probably should have said it was a bit experimental... sorry if I tricked anyone into buying for that reason. :(

Post

Well, good news guys and gals. I managed to get all those .instr file you sent me loading so I'll put that into the next update (I will probably put out a 3.0.1 with this and other small bugs)

One thing to note is because the PCMSynth stores its samples as mono internally, some of the stereo .instr samples will not sounds exactly the same... but at least they load now and one day I will add stereo sample support.

Post

Rej,

Pretty amazingly quick find!

On a different note, I plugged in my MIDI guitar and rocked out on the PCMSynth, but I couldn't get the pitch bend to work. Is it implemented right now or did I set up something wrong?

Here is the entire Sonatina Synphony Orchestra in .instr files:

I didn't make this, but it sounds great.

Post

Ack, that 8bit solver synth. Can I have a VST of that?

Post

I wish it could accept copy/paste equations. There are great ones online and BitWiz has an awesome randomize function too that would be great to paste into the 8bit machine. 8bit, pad synth, and PCMsynth are my current go-to machines.

Post

Honestly, the only machine missing is a granular one IMO.

Post

been playing with the 8bitsynth, giving it a bit more of a c64 theme (even though its not a SID synth) ;)
