Gadget isn't a host. Gadget is a synth. Think iPolysix, iM-20, Stroke Machine...
It won't host other synths anymore than the others listed, it is itself a synth engine. It can do some of what iM1 does (it already included many M1 patches in its various synths, before Darwin appears, and you can even morph 4 of those patches inside Kiev.) But: Gadget isn't going to "host" iM1 the way AB and IAA hosts work. Korg is clever to emulate such a host but that isn't what's going on under the hood. It's a Korg workstation, it's what Korg does.

Havîng the option of tweaking doesn't change the workflow, if you don't want it to.
Sure but it clearly helps / obliges to focus on making music instead of tweaking synth during hours, it's like using an hardware Groovebox and how i compare Gadget with my previous experiences with various tools (softwares or hardwares), it's an ultimate tactile tablette groovebox.

Maybe with the next ipad pro / arm CPU Korg will release Serious based on the core of Gadget but more like a DAW with ability to host full version of their previous synth.

But you can't deny the philosophy behind gadget and find a logic why Korg limited each modules inside a software they decided to call Gadget since day 1.

That said I'm obviously not against some evolutions but dont't have your expections because of the "gadget" concept.
Win 11, UAD Octo satellite usb, Yamaha AG06 mk2, IK multimedia iLoud MTM x2, Ableton Live 12, Push 2, Reason 12, NI Komplete.

I guess Korg sees iM1 more as a stand alone sound module, not as plug-in next to a zillion other ones in an iPad DAW. Due to overall processing power. Same reason they limit functionality within Gadget, to reserve power for the other engines.
Though impressive compared to say a PENTIUM 4 from 10-12 years ago, like it or not, iPad still isn't a 4 or 6 core i7.

that's still not really an excuse to not allow the use of all sounds that the full im1 has. power is not the limiting thing as these sounds are already working very well on my ageing ipad 3.

if it were a cas that they excluded the most complex presets, then maybe they could have just issued a warning that certain presets will take a bit more power, and may need to be frozen sooner
