I think they're still catching up on that end after the beta, the massive work behind the scenes and what have you.

You don't need to buy it instantly - wait a week or two until things cool down.

The "Standard" version won't have the FFT view, neither will it have the freely configurable Character (locked to either/or Fire/Water/Neutral) and Strength mode (it's locked to 50/100/150%). Also there won't be a 5.1 version. Else the feature set is the same.
Compyfox wrote:Sadly, the background story is not that simple.
Just to scratch the surface: a split of company partners, ongoing quarrels, "lost" code, etc. Fabrice had to start from scratch - which was unfortunate for current customers of E2-Deesser and ELS Vocoder (i.e. Logic users were stuck on 32bit versions!). Parallel to that, he started at Slate Digital. Around that time was the switch from iLok1 to iLok2 as well (which caused a change of the engines for both Slate Digital and Eiosis).

Sh*t happens, things can get delayed. But what's most important - he delivered. And as mentioned earlier... former customers got AirEQ for free. The Premium version at that as well, not just the "standard" version only.
Thanks a lot ! I think that you replied to everything. :)
I'm so glad and honored that someone knows all those details, and to see your enthusiasm replying here.

BDeep wrote:I recall there would be an AirEQ "regular" and an AirEQ Premium. Did they skip that concept and only released the Premium version?
Couldn't find any references to that on the site.
We actually decided to make it simple : only make the Premium available, and lower its price.
We should use the Standard for promotional, offers, and educational purposes though !

Glad I could help out, Fabrice.

Sounds interesting to release the "Standard" version as Promotional or Education/"low budget" release. Else it would be obsolete. (the feature set comparison is really minimal at this point!)

I guess during Beta stage, and during creation of your hardware controller, things shifted a bit.
Or everything shifted at the very last minute.

Thanks Fabrice & Compy for clearing that up :)
Congrats on the release!

I tried AirEQ Premium on my drum buss and it just sounds fantastic. Very natural sounding, it makes the cymbals/hihat shine, and love what it does to the low end. Really enjoyed it on the 2Bus too, one just have to be careful for not "over-EQuing" the mix cause this eq is really powerful and its very natural sound tends to make me wanna push too much sometines. I think it can add a silkier effect on the high frequencies (let's say around 10k and beyond) than the Clariphonic DSP. I also tried it for cleaning an outside ambience with LP and HP engaged, and it sounds really smooth. Love the way you can easily eq any kind of source. I'm really glad to finally have it after my long wait, like I said I demoed it while it was still sold and couldn't afford
it at that time. The $99 intro price is just instant buy for me. In this price range (around $149) I think that AirEQ is a serious competitor. Thanks Fabrice ! (et salutations d'un grenoblois au passage ;) )

Acon Digital Equalize was released a week ago and it can also do "water" EQ curve (adjusting slope).
It has a few other tricks up its sleeve like mixed phase mode with latency adjustion, gain to bandwidth link (bandwidth is automatically adjusted when you change the gain to preserve the perceived bandwidth), L/R or M/S per band, etc.

Absolutely. There was a lot of things going on, but maybe one of the things was that I worked so much on this thing, we had so many issues, that I started not to be able to handle it anymore.

At first, I wanted to make the AirEQ price reflecting all the work we have been putting in it, i.e., making it pretty expensive, and at some point, I went so crazy that I would not want to sell it anymore. So I thought that a good middle point would be to make it affordable. :)

Also, I wanted everyone to be able to use AirEQ : my goal was to try to make a great plugin that people use, not a fancy-luxury thing that nobody can afford and thus nobody uses.

Thanks for your awesome comments !
Mais oui, vive les Grenoblois ! :)

Well it looks really cool and it's certainly a great EQ !

But we do the things differently with AirEQ. The Acon uses the well-known Butterworth filters with a variable slope, that many other EQ also feature now. What we do is different for many reasons :
  • The AirEQ bands are always low CPU. Butterworth bells use more and more CPU as the Q raises
  • All the filters in AiREQ, Water, Fire, etc.. was adjusted by ear. That makes a HUGE difference when you use the EQ. Most EQs provide some curves "as it is", with absolute settings, which corresponds to values on the graph. While this is an easy way to develop an EQ, this was not my approach for AirEQ. I adjusted every Water, Fire, Q, and Gain combinations manually, by ear, to be sure that it would sound the best in every situation.
  • This results in the ability to really adjust your resonances with the Character : it becomes intuitive, quick and efficient to equalize your tracks.

Good to finally know the backstory and thank you very much for the Free Upgrade.

My Eiosis Account had been deleted and I had to make a new one. Can I assume that you still have all my purchase details on file? I also own E2Deesser and E2Transienter.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Thanks for the responce Fabrice, good to know about the difference.

I won't be buying it though, since I don't want iLok/Pace on my system.

Hi!

I hope nobody sees this as an attempt to hijack this thread, but I just wanted to comment on this, since you write that this feature is available in other EQs as well. A novelty in Equalize is the ability to freely set the slope to any value between 3 dB/octave to 120 dB/octave (i.e. no 6 dB/octave steps). That is unique as far as I know.

Anyway, it's good to see development and innovation among EQs. I wish you all the best with AirEQ, Fabrice. It looks like an excellent EQ.

Best,
Stian

Thank you very much for the generous free upgrade, Fabrice!

I had looked forward to nice discount, but this is more than I expected. Classy rep building!

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Congrats on your new release. This a very nice musical eq. The forward thinking used in developing this makes it pleasure to use. Sounds great too.

ok ok, sold all the way ...
but Fabrice, please consider a more generous and longer period of intro sales !
Same with Steve, as VMR is knocking at the doors ...

Don`t want to donate blood in a way I forget who I am and my housenumber, right ?

Yes, I also finally played with it during the weekend and it's really better than I expected, I thought I wouldn't use it much since I have the usual suspects already and thought I have my eq needs covered for the next millennium or so. But I think I will use it a lot! The workflow seems to be great, that's the main thing here for me (also it sounds excellent but so do the others).
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

Well, I'll be the idiot who can't make it work on Reaper 4.75 Win 7/32bit :(
I installed the ilok2 key, downloaded and installed VST2 only, it crashed Reaper, then uninstalled AirEQPremium, rebooted, installed everything. It still crashed Reaper.

I'll see if I can find a support link and get some help.
