but a synth is a synth bro, you have to abandon nearly all synths now with VA, Wavetables etc. nowDasheesh wrote:There comes time where you jump the shark man...over exposure, time to move on. Have some class. It's been done...to death.

The OP is stuck in a preset searching loop i think. Probably a good idea to actually learn how to make stuff with what he's got otherwise he'll end up like me and have a bunch of synthesizers with overlapping features.
Still I like to convince myself that I own certain synthesizers for their "Character" when technically they almost all do very similar things.

Get any of that synth demo, delete all of the preset and start from scratch. You will know what you like best. Two my recent synth purchase are like that. I only made sound from the init patch when i demo it, and it helps me to understand and appreciate it more.

can you tell me from where the sample of the beginning is and how you made it so cool dark sounding (pitchwise?)

http://picosong.com/5bNF/but always was interested in reason! i think u can get a fuller sound with any newer synth (cause of layering i guess) than there.

sure. i see no reason to keep secrets as i just do this for a hobby. all the synth sounds are antidote, which is a very cut down dune 2 for reason. the drums are wave alchemy synth drum samples. the fx sounds are from the glitch machines free collection. the fx used are rack extension fx. the sample is a pitched down version of the no fate vocal from terminator 2 judgement day. and i used a tweaked tb303 antidote patch called silver box for the main acid bass based upon the diode tb303 filter with automation.

I have all 3 and frankly Hive is more fun at the moment - I started life building a monophonic synth (Transcendent 2000 kit) and not finish piano lesson grades - meaning I am pretty good playing with one finger.
The Hive interface for me was very very easy to use and did things the way I expected from my experience with old mono synths. I like the sounds and although this is mixed badly - I whipped it up in about an hour last night using presets.

Get the demos and have a play - the style of music you prefer will help. They are all awesome..
Spire - nice smooth sounds, Serum really really clean cutting shifty sounds, and Hive - really low CPU, something between the other two in my opinion.
