Depends in which folder you're installing. You need admin permissions to install in Program Files. Otherwise just copying the folder over seems to just work. Talking about Windows, since I dunno how it might be on OSX. Probably similar.

not my problem.TwoToneshuzz wrote: If iLok or eLicenser or other third party dongle based copy protection schemes weren't there, what then would the developers that use this system of digital rights protection do to replace it?
the bottom line is that its unnecessary for the product, has a potential for causing problems, and serves no purpose for me as the user. why would i want to introduce extra layers to my system that i dont need and can only ever cause problems?
dont get me wrong...im not complaining...they can do whatever they want...i just wont buy it. i wont even consider anything thats dongle based or uses that kind of cp. for me there is no softwate out there thats so good ill put up with that. theres plenty of people who will, so they dont care about users like me...nothing wrong with that.
on the other hand, i dont have to care about them either. not everyone uses it so obviously there are alternatives, and ill stick to those.
they get to use the copy protection they want, and i get to not be punished for doing the right thing. everybody wins. yay.

You don't really win because you are interested enough in the software to bemoan the copy protection scheme, so right there it seems you lose, choices...chaosWyrM wrote:not my problem.TwoToneshuzz wrote: If iLok or eLicenser or other third party dongle based copy protection schemes weren't there, what then would the developers that use this system of digital rights protection do to replace it?

Btw you don't always need to use the dongle these days, just authorizing an iLok account on the computer is possible, there is a limit of 3 computer authorizations per license if the Software is bought after 2014..
waves break, but somehow it all makes sense.

i do really win. there are exactly zero plugins i wish didnt use this method of cp so i could buy them. im pretty well covered for my needs. what software do you think im interested in?TwoToneshuzz wrote:You don't really win because you are interested enough in the software to bemoan the copy protection scheme, so right there it seems you lose, choices...chaosWyrM wrote:not my problem.TwoToneshuzz wrote: If iLok or eLicenser or other third party dongle based copy protection schemes weren't there, what then would the developers that use this system of digital rights protection do to replace it?

and were not talking about just dongles.

pretty much. i only chimed in because people seem to not understand that sometimes its not about anything more than simply a choice, a preference to not use software with these kinds of cp methods. seems people always want some kind of technical rationalization for it...saying it works just fine and theyve never had a problem with it.TwoToneshuzz wrote:So it's a non issue for you! its kind of like how there are a lot of people who *can* drive a manual transmission...but would never buy anything but an automatic.

I've no intention of starting a "war on PACE".DrumAddict wrote:where are your professional answere of the question i asked you earlier ? whats the problem you have with your PACE Syndrom ?sfd wrote:
If you and others are happy with iLok that's nice.
But that's not the issue.
Point is that UVI is not selling me anyhting. Not because of their products but because of PACE.
If UVI offered an alternative (as for example XILS-Lab do) they would at least have one more potential customer. And maybe, just maybe, it's a little more then just one.
I don't like PACE. That should be enough for you as well as for UVI.
As someone stated earlier "If you don't like it don't use it".
Anyways, I'm requesting an alternative to PACE, not instead of PACE.
Those who like PACE can continue with that. And those who doesn't will have an alternative.
That's a win/win. For UVI as well as for the customers.

Thanks for letting us know. But why cry out on a public forum. Why don't you just contact them directly?sfd wrote: I don't like PACE.
The ilok thing has been done to death here.
Oh, I'm happy with my ilok btw.
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

But you only got 1 activation then, and needed to contact them when you wanted to switch computers.aMUSEd wrote:But Arturia's old system was eLicenser.
Now you get to authorize plugs on 3 different computers right?

True but you didn't need to contact them to switch computers, you just moved the dongle.Numanoid wrote:But you only got 1 activation then, and needed to contact them when you wanted to switch computers.aMUSEd wrote:But Arturia's old system was eLicenser.

You had to contact them if you used the soft eLicenser.aMUSEd wrote:True but you didn't need to contact them to switch computers, you just moved the dongle.Numanoid wrote:But you only got 1 activation then, and needed to contact them when you wanted to switch computers.aMUSEd wrote:But Arturia's old system was eLicenser.
