If you go to the Filter tab for instance, and double click "By Velocity" you can modify parameters such as resonance (percentage above the resonance that has been set by the user which varies according to velocity). Is this what you were after? The same applies to filter frequency as well.
Thanks, that's half of what I'm after. But I want to turn off velocity dynamics for the amp and/or amp envelope. I've looked in Global and in Oscillator 1 and their respective envs, and can't find squat. Now I'm starting to worry that velocity might be hardwired to control amp. If so that's not a good move for a synth. But I'm sure there's either some feature I haven't discovered yet, or at least some kind of trick you can do.

I've found the LFO modulations you can add, all very sophisticated, but there appears to be no mod matrix?

Also, the manual really needs a Table of Contents! :)

Kudos for Melda for giving me a 30 day unlimited trial to get this stuff sussed out, though. But I won't be looking at the presets, I want to work out how to program this thing before I make my mind up on a purchase.

Also, kudos for adding microtonal support. I can't express in words how annoying it is to me that this isn't a standard feature in modern synths!

I didn't have a single doubt that Melda synth will be like this (no pun intended), because he tried to implement his current modules from his different plugs into this one. Must understand this. I would be really disappointed to see something like Hive from Melda....

One life, one love, one GUI framework!

(Now let's tell the truth, Vojtech cannot afford to hire a GUI designer! :hihi:)

Seriously, he developed his own GUI framework in university, and now he cannot live without anymore...

Under MIDI settings (bottom right) you can set up how the plugin reacts to different MIDI messages, including velocity on and off as well as the target parameter. The downside is that the velocity curve may have to be set up directly on the MIDI controller (while keeping the Velocity profile flat in the Velocity Envelope window).

But Vojtech really needs to clarify this.

Most nuclear power plants are simpler to operate than this synth.

I am sure I have only scratched the surface when it comes to Vojtech's plugins. Somewhere buried deep down inside MPowersynth is a special button that can generate heat and power for a major international airport.

Heh, the mod matrix is HIDING RIGHT ON THE BOTTOM OF THE UI! I know, I remember at first wondering where it was as well. It's right under a set of macros.

Again, poor UI design. Something like this should be so obvious to anyone who, like you, know what a mod matrix is. But it's there... and insanely powerful once you get into it.

So, I'm talking myself out of a Fizmo and I threw this together quickly yesterday. It's just two instances of MPOWERSYNTH. Two tweaked presets and some automation. Just a taste.

I dunno, I'm fine with the UI design. It's different, but it's Melda, so you can tweak literally anything, and that's hard to pack into a UI. I find e.g. Serum no less confusing once you go beyond the 'main' controls. Maybe psychologically it would have been more kind for Melda to have a 'synth-looking' main UI, hiding the complex tabs behind some 'advanced' button, but I prefer it the way it is.

Bad UI design, that would be Absynth. What were they thinking?

Oh yeah. I forgot about Absynth. That's a stinker no doubt. Same kind of idea though. I heard it a long time ago at a show. I could barely see the screen of the laptop that was running it but the sound was great. Really interesting. It wasn't until a little bit later that I saw it at an NI booth at a MacWorld and realized that was the instrument I'd been interested in. I think I played with it at the booth for about a minute before I had my credit card out. In hindsight, it sure wasn't due to it's UI... although it's gotten a bit better over the years. It's due for an update. I hope they do a total UI redesign on it. I don't need it to look like an alien spaceship control program. Just make it clear and easy to use.

Here's another quick thing I threw together today. Just two instances of MPOWERSYNTH. Modified presets with some automation. It's part of my "Talking myself out of a Fizmo" series.

Meh. It's just lacking in purple fizzy charm.

Seriously, I like that a lot. You should develop that track further. I picture it evolving into something from the TD- Exit album brought into the millennium. The simple beat comes in and it drives on and on while the sounds evolve around it.

I've literally not had a chance to dive into MPS even a little bit (too many new goodies at once), so it's great to hear some good examples of what it can do.

That's like really spacey man. And not Kevin Spacey either. LOL.

Heh, no, it can be plenty purple! For fun I changed the default colors to Fizmo purples to inspire me. I'm a dork like that.

Thanks for the complement. I liked it too, but tbh, I threw those together super quick. I thought it might be fun to later bring in some guitar over it, for some more organic sounds. What's funny to me about it is that I really like stuff like that. Very minimal and slowly evolving, but I tend to never do that myself... I always feel like I have work on something until I ruin it. :help:
