Spire or ANA? Melbourne bounce + EDM

I own both and don't use Ana for my productions but Spire a lot.

IMO further development of Ana has stopped. Maybe it was more a concept of a synth for Sonic Academy usable for their tutorials and stuff about synth programming. This synth is not bad but I would not recommended Ana because Spire is a better option.

My biggest problem with hive is that the oscillators are not (as of yet) available as a modulation source. There is probably a very good technical reason for that. It probably has to do with the kind of oscillators they are, but it is disappointing to me because I use a lot of oscillator as modulation source, and I thought it would be more virus than sylenth. As with all u-he products you are kind of at the mercy of what they want to give you and you have to go outside your comfort zone a little (at least I do). It surprised me greatly how much could be done with what they give you tho. It can go in a lot of directions...it's just that with all software these days everyone has the same sounds and the same software and is throwing together and pumping out the same cookie cutter club tracks over, and over, and over....it's fun to take an instrument like hive and do things with it it wasn't intended to do. I suspect that a lot of the u-he crowd are like that. That's why you get unusual presets submitted. You can only do a super saw so many times.

Guys like me are the last to get their hands dirty with these soft instruments though and so any of the curiosity factor, the exploration factor is missing with software these days. There isn't much left to call your own any more. That's why you choose the best instrument for what you want to do I guess. Spire can be very cinematic...it can be over the top very easily. That's not always a good thing. Ana is good for basic edm style club tracks...it may be all you need.

One of Hive's strong selling point is the low CPU use, so some advanced but CPU hungry techniques like osscilator as modulation source or FM are not implemented (yet). And there's still other alternative for more advanced sythesis options (Zebra or Ace). Every time U-he presents a new synth a lot of people want all those other shiny features from their whole production line combined (Diva filters in Zebra, Zebra MSGs in Diva, OSC modulation in Hive...) But that's not how synth marketing works obviously.

If you want sth diffent, try Bazille.

ANA and Spire use too much CPU for what they deliver in my experience. ANA has a lot of genre ready presets (it's mainly targeted at the learners at Sonic Academy), but that isn't a bad thing if you go for fast results in the EDM genre.

I'd suggest Dune 2 for a versatile alternative which lower CPU consumption and excellent sound (and high quality factory bank).

I did buy spire realy awesome tool. But the cpu is very high. some times up on 90% ?

Depends on patch and your machine, but it goes pretty high, but don't worry, next update will finally address that

Try to turn off on board reverb and delay at least in that cases and freeze it, check do you really need all oscillators and voices, can you really fit that in a mix, but it's really high if you don't have quad

That said, if you can only afford ANA then get it and make music, there's a number of banks for it I think. It can certainly get along your way.

There are only four in-house packs, but they're inexpensive at £9.95 each. But there are a number of others that are more expensive.

I got ana and it gets no use. I don't think I used it once in a track. spire is hands down the best i own vst outside of kontakt. sylenth being a close 2nd. Hive is on my
