Actually, Mantra Evo sounds quite interesting after a quick try-out. Has this distorted guitar touch. To run it, I just installed Cubase AI 7 that came with my UR22 on the Windows partition of my Macbook. Maybe I will also try Tracktion 4 later on but don't know, if I'll find enough motivation to work with those.

@Parduz: Good news! A distortion effect is included in this one :tu:

Is it my imagination, or does the amp env on this have a MAXIMUM of a one-second decay? That makes it nearly unusable. Has anyone figured out what's up with that?

What are you trying to do? Are you trying to make a traditional tune?! This is Mantra Evo! :hihi:

Yes, I was hoping for a piano-ish sound. Looks like the only way to get even close would be to play everything staccato and use the release (which works more as expected) instead of the decay, but then all notes will be the same length. Ouch! :dog: Maybe better to think organ-ish!

Hello all
This looks interesting, might participate this month.
Some concerns/questions:
-Are we allowed to bounce the sound and mess with it that way? (ie chop it up, reverse it, etc)
-Are we allowed to do heavy external filtering? (ie messing with an EQ a whole bunch, using resonances made outside of the synth itself, etc)

I guess that's it for now, good luck to everyone participating!!!

You may bounce, bot not chop it up, reverse, pitch, etc.

Kinda sorta, just use your best judgement not to overdo it

Hmmm... I cannot run it.

Do I need something like synth edit to run it ?

There is error message on loading VST:

Can't load SE Plugin: blabla... \Rectangle.sem

I don't see such file anywhere.

It's a 32 bit plug. Are you running 64 or 32 bit?

Post

32-bit I suppose. I downloaded Studio One 2 32-bit, then run it from Program Files (x86) so I hope that it's running in 32-bit. I am former OSX user, so I don't really understand that windows thing :-) that much.

Go to your control panel and look and see what version of Windows you're running. Go to Control Panel, System and look at the system type.

I am running 64-bit Windows 8, but I thought when I run x86 version of S1 it's running in 32-bit ? I need 32-bit Windows installed ? Or I can try some bridge then...

Works on 64-bit Win bridged. Look at your folder of plugin. There needs to be a subfolder "Mantra Evo" containing the Rectagle.sem and some other files. If not, please install plugin again. Make sure .dll file and subfolders are there ...

This could be a compound problem. For starters, I'm finding a few plugs are having problems in Windows 8 most likely because they haven't been tested properly on that OS. I know 8 is technically "old" now but most people hate it and have gone back to 7. I don't even dare upgrade to 8 and I'm not even sure I want to go to 10 when it comes out.

As for the 32/64 bit thing, if your OS is 64 bit, you're likely to run into problems running a 32 bit plug. You can try bridging it but honestly, I don't think it's going to matter. I can't get this thing to work "properly" in 3 different DAWs with and without bridging so I'm not even going to attempt an OSC this month.

Try bridging it and see if it helps.

Just don't hold your breath.

Don't know how complicated is bridging on other hosts. I just installed plugin (Win7 64bit), started Reaper, selected plugin, works. Same procedure as on WinXP PC :D
