It is a very interesting research in spite of me not being a fan of supersaw or trance, but I don't dislike it. I hear it sometimes and this research made me curious to test what I have from synths. I doubt I have something can produce it. Retrologue has stacked oscillators but I thought it is like an old Jupiter 8 from the 80's? I have no idea really. Oh I have Sunrizer, I will check that and see.EnGee wrote:Oh thank youchk071 wrote:Not that i know much about it, but yes, his papers about the Roland supersaw got indeed published: http://www.nada.kth.se/utbildning/grukt ... _10131.pdf I guess that it has been used as a base for other stuff. At least that would be much easier than doing the research yourself.
Started to read the paper myself today, great read and very informative, even for people who don't like supersaws.I will read soon.
I always skipped Roland products since I visit their dealer in Athens (where I lived long years ago) and the dealer was so snobby and rude. I was just asking about Jupiter 8, but he was really an asshole together with his assistant. Since that time, I had the image of "Snobby" whenever I hear Roland! Anyway, now I'm trying to be open minded about 'it' and learn what I have missed.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

that's indeed true. I guess that most (or all?) emulations currently using a dedivcted Roland wupersaw emulation are somehow based on your research.
FWIW i got your JP6K since quite a long time and it sounds graet indeed. Anyway i am recently using only few 32-bit plugins which is why i mostly used other synths for that kind of sound.
So far U-He Diva seems to contaon the most complete implementation of teh JP-8000 oscillators including the Feedback mode and others.

Your experience was unfortunate, I don't think Roland is more snobby than other brands.EnGee wrote:It is a very interesting research in spite of me not being a fan of supersaw or trance, but I don't dislike it. I also like the Trance Pro, but eventually I abandoned it because there is some bug with the implementation of the filter envelope. And modulation options are minimalist, to put it mildlyOrbit-50 wrote:Sylenth1 and Superwave Trance Pro. Everything else is just grasping at straws.

Tbh i don't know why the supersaw always seems to be identified with trance or EDM. You can hear it in every second pop, chillout or ambient track too. Maybe the people just don't realize it when there's a filter on it, or it's being used as a pad sound.EnGee wrote:It is a very interesting research in spite of me not being a fan of supersaw or trance, but I don't dislike it. I thought the supersaw sound is a little dated now, at it was used so much in trance 10-15 years ago ?

Now is bigger than ever I guess, but than when I look at it, it never went out from fashion, just found a way to mainstream againNumanoid wrote:I thought the supersaw sound is a little dated now, at it was used so much in trance 10-15 years ago ?

I really don't care now for the hardware. Gone are the days when standing in front of the shops, looking at the synths and workstations with sorrow inside because I couldn't afford it.fluffy_little_something wrote: Your experience was unfortunate, I don't think Roland is more snobby than other brands.
I do care now only for historical reasons.
It is known in the 90's right? so maybe, this is why. So, what the old Jupiter used? I mean JX8 and JX16? only normal SAW? I remember very thick pads in many of the 80's songs.chk071 wrote: Tbh i don't know why the supersaw always seems to be identified with trance or EDM. It's literally everywhere as far as i'm concerned.
Anyway, I played little with Retrologue and Sunrizer. They are absolutely great synths producing great pads using stacked or multi oscillators

Indeed there is much more about Supersaw/Hypersaw than just Trance and/or Techno sounds. Great for soem really big pad souds and other stuff...chk071 wrote:Tbh i don't know why the supersaw always seems to be identified with trance or EDM.
