Really? It's only 200 bucks difference for the full retail price, I don't think it's a mistake.EvilDragon wrote:I wonder if that was intended to be $250 instead...

So I see - but is it worth doing so?VariKusBrainZ wrote:Melodyn essential appears to be a free upgrade.

This is - so far - my conclusion, too. Its pitty that Celemony has taken this policy: in the last 4 years they have worked with the improvements mostly others than for the vocal use, instrumental polyphonic DNA, now synthetic sound mangling etc.SirkusPi wrote:It looks like most of the improvements were to Studio; more specifically, from the website at least, it doesn't look like there's any change to (or improvement in) the algorithm for basic vocal tuning. Since that's most of what I use Editor for, I'm not sure this is for me. I wonder if it will let me download a demo of Editor v4 even as I'm running v2 on my system...
EDIT: Didn't realize the upgrade to Studio is only $50 more than the upgrade to Editor v4. But if there's no change to the basic algorithm, I still don't know if it's worth it for my particular workflow. Still, I'm intrigued enough to check it out.
Paradoxical, because the Melodyne was, in the first place, invented for the vocal use, what we would need, was just improvement in the vocal detecting and pitch shifting/correcting algorithms, which are unfortunately rather poor for certain type of vocal material in the Melodyne. And that we didn't get, once again, in the latest ver.4 update.
I think that we should first get the natural pitch detection/shifting right, THEN we can begin coloring the sound. Now Celemony has concentrated on the past years giving us more tools for "cherrifying" the voices.
Pitty, most likely I won't upgrade my editor, if the offer is not much better. I wonder why everybody seem (here) cebrating the $ 150-180 price - for me its a lot of mony for the feature I don't necessarely need for a VOCAL CORRECTING tool.

Hm think I may pass on this too as there's not much new for editor and I don't need studio. Will probably get the next one or possibly upgrade if they have another 50% off upgrades sale

Same here. The interface improvements is about the only thing that really intrigues me, but not enough to justify the $149 v2.x>4 upgrade cost.jezjez wrote:Hm think I may pass on this too as there's not much new for editor and I don't need studio.

Paid the upgrade but now my Melodyne Editor 2 license does not show in my account anymore, that's lame. I have backup but I still want my old installer available.
Edit: Apparently according to FAQ the old serial get disabled. Wish I read the fine print before I put the money down.

Damn! I knew I should've bought the upgrade to Assistant last week they had it at 99$/€, now it's back at 149!
Anyway, did they update the Essential edition somehow?
