are there any interesting new genres?

I'm kind of wondering where the "cutting edge" of music is right now, from a perspective of technological determinism anyway. What was interesting about genres like Glitch, IDM, Microsound etc in the 90's was that (often) they were using technology and techniques that simply weren't possible 10 or 20 years beforehand - so they weren't just stylistic offerings but were genuinely breaking new ground. I haven't seen much of that in the last 10 years, but it could be due to (my) ignorance in the current scene. Most of the "modern" EDM genres for example, while stylistically might be considered new - could have been made a while back from a technological point of view, so I don't really consider them cutting edge.
