Must've missed this one first time around? Maybe I wasn't on here at the time?
Very interesting ambient soundscape with subtle, well-judged little developments everywhere - darkly atmospheric and very effective.
Personally I might've experimented with a couple more slowly intertwining choir lines, but I readily admit that's quite possibly too much for this particular musical context!

Here is my contribution to the album. I put this together quite quickly (not really surprising, given the minimal nature of the piece), although it felt like the music was assembling itself, beyond my control. The only difference between this and the album version is in the mastering. The track itself is a belated response to a major "lifestyle" event a few years ago.

At $9.99 this represents excellent value, featuring 114 tracks, provided by the members of AmbientOnline, and clocking in at over 18 hours!
That is certainly completely different to the idea/motivation I had when writing this one, but no less terrifying. It works very well indeed. Did you script it, or was it a "freestyle" performance? Whatever you did, I found it very compelling and chilling - I must have watched it 7 or 8 times now.
Here's a fun fact.
When I'm putting my tracks together, parts of them become "earworms", and I have trouble getting them out of my head, until I start work on the next track.
Ventilator was no different. Can you imagine?
Thanks very much for taking the time to listen, and comment, or indeed, enhance the original

but there is no use of micropolyhony here, other than as a by-product of the mingling reverb tails.
tomato/tomahto
What they were after was an awesome granular synth to begin with, but had to REALLY work for it. If you had to capture all the sonorities of this with a vocal group there would be A LOT of parts to write.
I def wasn't around for the release of this, I was becoming seriously ill at the time and had no working computer.
This is brilliant and I'd be inclined to suggest do more of it but if it was about pain and ioss maybe not.
It isn't unsettling to me at all, but I don't tend to attach describable emotional states to music, practically not at all.
it's objective, always. If I had to say something extramusical about it it would be 'cosmic, spiritual' or some stuff like that.
I'd much rather listen to this kind of thing than to... well, many things.
but "Ventilator" combined with a life event is pretty scary

Well: When I think of a ventilator, I first think of the fan.
The track starts with a distant tone that changes meandering.
Anyway, it doesn't sound like a fan.
It sounds more like ... so how? Like a tone that slowly builds up,
floats slightly, continually evolves and climbs further spheres. Only
when you listen for a long time does the peculiarity of this ambient
world become apparent. It seems to be an entity of its own, a bubble
of its own in the universe.

Once I began this, it seemed to write itself, and very quickly too. I was definitely after a minimal effect here, although I caved in towards the end. I have been thinking of remixing this some time in the future, but one of my main plan involved replacing the Miroslav choir with a subtle RedTron_SE patch, and tucking it away in the background with some heavy reverb, although I probably won't have time to look at it this year.

I just went into the project, with a view to a possible remix/instrument substitution at some undefined date, and the only reverb on here is on the Miroslav vocal, apart from some added BlackHole during the last 30 seconds or so. The FM synth does feature some delay. Things for me to look at later.jancivil wrote: Mon Jul 05, 2021 1:38 am but there is no use of micropolyhony here, other than as a by-product of the mingling reverb tails.

I don't have any problems revisiting this "style" due to past associations. The piece was a musical response to the death of my father, but it materialised quite suddenly and unexpectedly, three years after the event.jancivil wrote: Mon Jul 05, 2021 1:38 am I def wasn't around for the release of this, I was becoming seriously ill at the time and had no working computer.

I started work on a piece of music one Sunday, and four notes into it, I had a title, and the music seemed to take on a life of its own. "Spiritual" may not be too far from actuality.
Thanks very much for listening, and for the kind comments, jan. Glad you liked it

Ventilator in English is a multi-functional word. I think the correct word in German is Beatmungsgerät, or maybe respirator.enroe wrote: Mon Jul 05, 2021 7:47 pm Well: When I think of a ventilator, I first think of the fan.

Ahh, I see. So if we see "ventilator" as "Beatmungsgerät", then the trackseismic1 wrote: Thu Jul 08, 2021 11:54 pm Ventilator in English is a multi-functional word. I think the correct word in German is Beatmungsgerät, or maybe respirator.
will be very topical, indeed. It sheds light on people who fell into the
clutches of the corona virus and who probably had to fight for life and
death - a very serious topic.
