Not really, was predicted, was flamed by the S1 forum hunters for saying it, you will get trickles from 3rd parties, if they sell you may get a few more trickles, but when you enclose any format in one host, well it is obviously going to die, developers will not waste timed developing for one host if it doesn't make them money.aMUSEd wrote:Really surprised and a bit disappointed they have not gone to town on the Mix Engine FX - seemed like we would be seeing new fx to add to the range but so far there has been no visible development which is a bit strange really.
You would think so, right ?aMUSEd wrote: That's absurd, it should have come with that from the start.
Especially considering how much they are trying to push the 'Content on tap' BS in S1

How very, erm, what is it i am looking for, hmmm, elitist, no, hmm, yes i have it, up your own exit chute of you, thanks for deciding who should spend and what they should spend on music software, I wonder if Presonus would agree with you hahaLawrenceF wrote:Anyone not making money with it probably shouldn't be spending $4-5-600 for music software anyway.
Actually it is nothing at all like Kontakt, not even a reasonable approximation and pound for pound in comparison is ridiculously expensive just for the editor, not including the cost of the pro version of Studio One, anybody who even tries to link this to anything that Kontakt does, is either trying to shill, or knows nothing at all about Kontakt.LawrenceF wrote:It's certainly not Kontakt, but it's a reasonably good approximation of it in a host.
This is obviously one more example of money men at Presonus in the US pushing the agenda over the developers who are on an entirely different continent if i remember correctly, it stinks very much of "We are not making enough money off S1, make those little idiots pay for everything"
Duh

So you go out and bash presonus but you went out and bough Studio One 3 lol. So did you buy Prescence XT?bungle wrote:Not really, was predicted, was flamed by the S1 forum hunters for saying it, you will get trickles from 3rd parties, if they sell you may get a few more trickles, but when you enclose any format in one host, well it is obviously going to die, developers will not waste timed developing for one host if it doesn't make them money.aMUSEd wrote:Really surprised and a bit disappointed they have not gone to town on the Mix Engine FX - seemed like we would be seeing new fx to add to the range but so far there has been no visible development which is a bit strange really.

Wether Presence is a "reasonably good approximation" of K4 is certainly debatable. The reality is that most Kontakt libraries these days require K5. You would be hard pressed to find a K4 only library now.

Well spoken bungle !!
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

NI changed the format from K4.2 onwards, not from K5. So from that version hereon there's no other sample player that can load those instruments.LawrenceF wrote:Kontakt 4.x and previous instruments yes. NI changed the format after that so Kontakt 5.x programs aren't compatible with S1 afaik.
And there are not that many K4.1.3 and older libraries out there these days...

That was meant to imply...bungle wrote:How very, erm, what is it i am looking for, hmmm, elitist, no, hmm, yes i have it, up your own exit chute of you, thanks for deciding who should spend and what they should spend on music software, I wonder if Presonus would agree with you haha
"For many people, music production is a really fun hobby, a very enjoyable and relaxing thing to do, and there is a literal shit ton of really inexpensive (and free) tools to make music with, so always whining about how much something costs says more about the person than anything else."
In other words maybe you just want too much (or everything)? Go get any or all of the free or really inexpensive stuff out there and make music and be happy. There actually are some freeware samplers out there.
http://www.tx16wx.com/ <--- Go get it. Make music. Be happy.
Honestly, if $70 puts that much of a strain on you financially for something you really want, or think you need, you probably shouldn't be buying it. That applies to everything really, including those $70 sneakers you may want.
Nobody, quite literally speaking, actually needs the S1 editor add-on to make music.

Then I want to apologize to you LawrenceF, because when I first read what you had written that is not how I took it at all. And after reading your first statement it really got me to thinking that maybe I should sell off all of my musical instruments and effects, both hardware and software. You are correct, if I am not making money then I should just get the heck out and shut up about it.LawrenceF wrote:That was meant to imply...bungle wrote:How very, erm, what is it i am looking for, hmmm, elitist, no, hmm, yes i have it, up your own exit chute of you, thanks for deciding who should spend and what they should spend on music software, I wonder if Presonus would agree with you haha

Thank you sir for opening my eyes!
And I want to wish you the very best and may you always be happy!

What bungle wrote is 100% right. I don't think that I'm happy with the biggest pro edition of a sequencer which then comes with a sample-player just to pay over 80 EUR for some editing possibilities. What next? If that continous you pay more for add-ons then for the pro sequencer itself. That's ridiculous.
Also an amateur have of course the same right to raise his voice then any pro. What's that nonsense again? I also think that most people can't live from their music productions. if somebody think that only the pro market is enough to make profit I doubt it. Nowdays it is not so easy to split the two groups like it was 20 years ago.

People here are so sensitive.TEKing66 wrote:You are correct, if I am not making money then I should just get the heck out and shut up about it.
The market is capitalism and companies can charge whatever they want and we can bitch all we want and it won't change anything, they still charge whatever they want. If something isn't affordable for you, the answer is to find something comparable that is, not to always suggest that it should be free.
When you write your own software or sell your own goods you too can do whatever you want, including making some things free or not. It's not a Studio One thing, it's a "living in the real world" thing.
All this relative drama over an editor that nobody really needs to make music.

What's the alternative exactly? What DAW comes with a sampler as nice as Presence?murnau wrote:What bungle wrote is 100% right. Reason's nn-xt comes close, but it's not nearly as good.

When I first saw it I figured it probably wouldn't be free, I thought it might be $20-25 or something and if someone says ... "I think they could have priced it a little lower to maybe get more people buying it and making new programs to share, dunno."... I could very easily agree with that. It wouldn't change reality, they're not gonna read KVR threads and then shave the price in half
, but I could still easily agree with that opinion.
Saying it shouldn't cost anything at all is something else entirely.
It's really shocking that companies who exist to make money are trying to make money. The greedy bastards.
