Just a heads up that Stutter Edit is on sale for $49 until Dec 31.
I absolutely love Tantra. I also have Movement, which I like but is just OK. Stutter Edit looks cool in that you can trigger all sorts of things from your MIDI keyboard so it's like you're playing the effects instrument. Trying out the free 10-day demo now. The key for me is can you get tasteful musical effects, rather than just non-musical noise which is my impression of some of the more deranged multi-effects offerings.

RIP AdrenaLinn Sync, which would earnestly be around the top of this list were it not for development complications preventing it from continuing onwards. There are some like myself keeping the candle burning with 32 Lives (or jBridge), as this is a stellar wunderkind and the de facto "rhythm generator". AMAZING pitched resonant filter seq effects which are found nowhere else that I've heard — layering melodies atop your existing patterns — and SO many of the presets (including some rhythmic noise generators) are remarkably playable ear candy. Even the sound demos on that linked page will make you a believer.
It's so cool how you can put virtually anything through AdrenaLinn Sync and it seems to spice it up just the right amount. A global dry/wet mix would've been cool, but that can be worked around in some hosts.
Even though it's no longer for sale, I'd be remiss in not drawing attention to the fact that AdrenaLinn Sync was a "legacy" option, in hopes that some developer will go above and beyond here (sort of like what U-He did with Repro-1, for the few of you whose minds harken back to a certain Wine Country). The hardware version lives on.
AdrenaLinn Sync's closest spiritual successor in some ways is of course the new king Tantra, which can do cool tricks ADS doesn't and has been well-supported by a trilogy of official expansion packs... yes, go buy it in the sale, which is almost over! I've (about a year ago) asked Dmitry Sches to please consider adding that "pitched resonant filter seq" to Tantra but no confirmation yet. Now that I'm reminded, I'm going to ask him...

I also love these kind of FX, I think Stutter edit is the Beez neez really. Not much else can do all the stuff this plugin can do!
Still getting myself familiar with the process of making my own effects for it though!
I got tantra recently and although I love the concept and the GUI, I find the results a little 'lacking' in some way. I thought I would love it, but am a little underwhelmed.
Melda Rythmizer and the multiband version get a lot of use here.
As does my favourite of them all Livecut. (which is free)
The last remaining 32bit plugin that I use in every track
Livecut is a bit weird and has its own way of working, but I love it! its based on some crazy crazy work down by Nick collins back in the day(BBcut), which I still think is probably unmatched in its ability to rearrange beats and loops in a random and yet musical way.

and none of them get me excited. Perhaps another
Sugar Bytes plugin may be more to my liking.

Does no one do this thing manually anymore, why does there have to be a VST for every creative task?
Such a lazy bunch of uncreative shits.
Why even bother creating music if you expect the tools to do ALL the leg work.

A lot of these tools, just let you do stuff much quicker, with the same level of control. Pretty invaluable when trying to make music.
With Melda Rythmizer for example I can do a bunch of complex ever changing 'trance' gate patterns and repeats just by recording and rearranging midi notes. I could easily do all the volume fades and bounce/repeats in my DAW but it would take 10 times longer.

The Melda Rythmizer demo did not inspire me. It seemed very complicated.Terrafractyl wrote:I also love these kind of FX, I think Stutter edit is the Beez neez really. Not much else can do all the stuff this plugin can do!

Too bad it is 32 bit.
I have Stutter Edit but have not tried it yet. I have yet to get back into
music mode.

It saves time, energy, effort, and money. Laziness is the natural result of success at homeostasis/balance, optimization and the conservation of energy. Tools that can bring about new music that one desires to experience with greater ease, a shorter distance from thought and desire to result, is quite desirable. I have a software concept in mind that's been developing with the goal of simplifying all music production to a simple set of controls, maximizing access to more combinations in the desired result sets, with more accuracy and speed. Using 3 distinct and simultaneous sources of information should produce the basis for any EDM song per my observation and experimentation. I would love some help to lessen the development time and learning curves, but I suspect no one would jump on that boat until it's complete and demonstrates value to the market. Either way, using specificity or guided randomness, we are simply surfing the creative wave to emergence enjoyed. Not everyone needs to toil, suffer, and endure excessive floggings to enjoy a song they create... happy accidents happen all the time, just a thought. For some, the purpose is simply to enjoy the music... not bathe in the superfluous glory of sophistication.VariKusBrainZ wrote:Does no one do this thing manually anymore, why does there have to be a VST for every creative task?

I hope you NEVER use a step sequencer, because that would make you "a lazy shit"

But better yet the AIR Instrument Expansion Pack 3 COMPLETE
is a better deal at $75.
I have been looking at the $75 offer for a few months now but
have not pulled the trigger.
