no you can keep rhino 1 as long as you install rhino 2 in another directory
and rhino 2 can load all the presets made for rhino 1.
perfect update scheme , IMO

wow wow wow, lots of questions here... let's see...
The update is free. And the price will stay the same.
This version is more or less the final release, minus fixes for whatever bugs you guys will find
(By the way, please email any bugs to me. I definitely want to hear about them. I'd especially like feedback regarding the library thing). The reason for the August date is that I'll go hiking in July and don't want to launch a product while I'm unavailable for support.
You don't have to uninstall V1 to use V2. Just install V2 in a different folder (read the "what's new" document that you can download from my site).
Problems with the cakewalk adapter may come from the previous size of the GUI being remembered by the adapter. A rescan should fix it.
The additive waveform editor doesn't pop up any more, since it now is available on its own tab, after the filters.
And you don't need the add-on waveset any more, as it's now included in the demo.
Enjoy,
'Tick

few months and now it is here and I can't download it because I don't have this weird site-code anymore.
Sorry Tick, but I think this system is really not good.
I've lost the e-mail long ago when Mozilla strangely messed up all my older mails (I don't know the cause for this).
I didn't think about saving the mail and I didn't knew how important it once would be for me.
I thought my key-file is all I need.
When I log in as a registered user e.g. for Tracktion
I need my e-mail adress and a password. When I don't
know the password anymore it offers to send me a new one. Could you please consider a change in your current system, Tick?

let me preface everything i'm about to say by noting i have a pesky ear infection interfering with my hearing so i can't tell what's what
but it seems to me rhino2 is much quieter and more muffled than rhino 1.09 -- even though the master volumes are at the same level.
and a preset like cello in Daniels' Morpheus bank in Rhino2 sounds nothing it does in in Rhino 1.09. That was the only one I found, but most original presets in rhino 1.09 sound a little brighter to me.
so is it just me?
in any case I think I'll be keeping the old rhino around at least till this ear thing clears up.
and I keep all my site codes and registraion codes in a file in the same folder as the installs. saves a a lot of trouble and also allows me to copy and paste those long codes where I don't know if that's a o or a 0 an l or a 1 upper or lower case v etc.

See, I knew I was missing something. Nice one.Big Tick wrote:The additive waveform editor doesn't pop up any more, since it now is available on its own tab, after the filters.
Proof that you shouldn't test out new software when you're really tired. I didn't even see that new tab.
Cheers,

No it's not just you - there really is a big change in the sound in Rhino2.wrench45us wrote:but it seems to me rhino2 is much quieter and more muffled than rhino 1.09 -- even though the master volumes are at the same level.

The volume is more quiet (but that's ok - you can just turn it up if you like - (to me it has always been too loud))
But what is not so good is that the sound has changed alot - all the "0ld" presets sound very dark and muffled and not at all like in Rhino 1.9
This makes me a little sad
I hope this will be fixed
All the best

Indeed some things have changed - Rhino 2 has bug fixes and optimizations in the oscillators code, but it shouldn't make a big difference in sound. Could you give me a preset for which it's particularily obvious ?
Regarding the level difference, it can be tweaked through the HKCU\Software\BigTick\Rhino2\DefaultGain registry entry. Rhino 2 uses by default 0,25, while Rhino 1 had 1.0 - but most people had it tweaked to 0,25 anyway.

I had to do the reg hack and set Cxeditor and Cyeditor to 800 and 600 respectively...ew wrote:Try a rescan...sometimes the Cakewalk adapter loses it with updated versions-it did that with the first WhiteNoise Additive update as well.S_A_P wrote:I have a problem with the gui not showing up in either FL studio and Cakewalks vst adapter- anayone else. Ironicly for us KVR users it appears that the first 50 by 300 pixels are displayed in each app.
I'm not a Rhino owner(yet),so I can't test it,but that usually will do the trick.
If that doesn't work, try the full reset/rescan trip.

Hey Tick
First a big thank you for this great update.
One preset could be "DX Shimmer" from the DX7 Bank.
Here it's very clear to hear that a lot of treble is missing.
If you like I can also mail you some of my own presets where it's very clear?
