Can anybody tell me which synths from the list that could replace the firebird? I'm not familiar with all these synth terms yet.
Dune CM . Its a magware (Free with computer music magazine). Not exactly HCM but the number of oscillator types are similar to firebird. Makes nice sound too.

Synth1 is another easy to use synth even though not very good looking, its the best soundwise.

Another great synth is TAL Noisemaker and also Mausynth
Thanks! Gonna try those out!

Added. Although if we count every available maize sampler instrument the count may go upto 500 which wont really be helpful. But i'll add an exception for Bundles or if there is any great sounding sampled instruments.

In fact, adding all the samples is of course not interesting, but I agree with BigCat that when they are distributed embedded and distributed as a full instrument and not simply as a collection of samples it is interesting for people who want to find good instruments.

For example, Mattias Westlund's samples distributed "as is" under the name "Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra" is nothing else than a collection of sounds (of high quality but nothing else than a collection of sounds)... but "Bigcat Instruments - Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra" (based on Mattias Westlund's samples) is a real full and immediately usable instrument.
