Maybe.....until PUSH, that seems to be the new direction.....Daags wrote:That boat sailed years ago.SLiC wrote: I would be quite happy if the development of Live stayed as the best method for working 'live' and as an instrument and doesn't try to become a full blown DAW.
Ableton users: if no news about Ableton L 10 in NAMM show, when is it coming?

Not a new direction at all. Just moving further along a course that was already set quite some time ago. Live is a DAW and a performance software. It's just going to develop further in each direction, jointly... with the exception of *.5 upgrades here & there.

I guess we will see in '10' but it has been over 3 years since 9 and for now, Live doesn't have even the most basic linear DAW features such as comping, audio editing and all but the most basic midi and linear arrangement tools.

they develop the DAW side of things in every major update. that will not change.SLiC wrote:I guess we will see in '10' but it has been over 3 years since 9 and for now, Live doesn't have even the most basic linear DAW features such as comping, audio editing and all but the most basic midi and linear arrangement tools.

When I use Live, it's primarily with Push and the Session View. The Arrangement View is in serious need of updating. I was actually surprised that they weren't at NAMM. It's kind of funny, because according to the forum, it appears as if they have stopped looking for bugs since the last beta update was back in November and it was 9.1.7b4. The current version of Live is 9.1.7, which was released on Dec 6th. Since then, nothing.SLiC wrote:I guess we will see in '10' but it has been over 3 years since 9 and for now, Live doesn't have even the most basic linear DAW features such as comping, audio editing and all but the most basic midi and linear arrangement tools.

Full article here: http://monolake.de/interviews/ableton.htmlGerhard Behles wrote:No one thought of the thing exploding, we just thought we could survive. I remember when we went to the first trade show [ NAMM in Anaheim, LA, the worlds biggest music instrument trade show ] with the first version of Live, we felt very much like we were small innovators with a niche product, and actually we felt very comfortable there because we had other friends of small niche companies with a similar mind set and we also literally stayed in the same corner of the exhibition space.
