Thanks guys :)! I appreciate that a lot!

And also a big thank you to everybody for your kind words and your support (also in mails). It means a lot to me to hear that my software is helpful for many people :).

an included "Octave Squisher" would be nice :)
Here's this silly little thing:
http://stash.reaper.fm/23467/octave%20squisher

It only works on one MIDI channel at a time (everything else passes through), takes any MIDI note input and transposes it up or down by octaves so that it fits in the range specified by the sliders. Not much to it, and there are probably other things out there which would do it, but it is a simple solution to an issue I have fairly regularly.

Seems to work pretty well given very basic preliminary testing. I haven't really heard the results, or tried to hard to break it, but the results look good. Any comments, concerns, or suggestions are appreciated.

I have to use the ReaJS plugin for this ...

Interesting concept. I will put that on the wish list and consider it for future updates.

just a presentation video about the concept, the general starting point in trance is an open chord structure, the right chord mode is: the third is moved to an octave lower and the root is doubled to two octave lower

now I have had to create a device (with some note filtering, routing magic) which let pass through the lower bass parts and "Octave Squisher" is the upper one, the difference is can be heard nicely, with "Octave Squisher" the result is instantly usable without it just a quite good starting point :)

Cool, thanks for the video! This explains the concept and the effect fairly well :).

For the curious, here is a nice photograph of a sundog (parhelion):

Wonderful image :hyper:
Yes, tonedef71 is right: Sundog was named after this weather phenomenon. It's also reflected in the Sundog logo:

OK, as promised, here are some other features that will be new in Sundog 3.0:
  • Instrument menu with special pattern actions: "Reverse pattern", "Remove stop symbols from pattern", "Reset volumes in pattern", "Stretch pattern to double length".
  • Higher resolution for chord progressions: Deactivate "Settings -> Chords View: Show reduced (quarter notes) timeline when possible" if you want to work with sixteenth notes in your chord progressions.
  • Chords View: Better display of chord inversions.
  • Chords View: No message box after successful MIDI export anymore.
  • Start dialog with quickstart help. I am updating the online helper pages at the moment to cover more Sundog settings and features in detail (focus on video content).
And here is a fresh new video which covers the Pattern Finder. Search and skip through your melodic rhythms easily :) :

Cheers,
Hauke
