i think i'd have taken the cash under the easy argument 'someone will do it and my refusal won't stop the project anyway'...

Respect to you
Do whatever makes you happy and dont regret it.
Money makes life easier that's all but it don't guarantee happiness.

hmmmm right ive been offered a decent amount of cash for a tune, lets just say it would help me out of some debt and make it easier for me for a while,BUT its for something im not sure i agree with![]()
basically a mate works for a maketing comapny and wants me to do a backing track for a presentation video for a leisure complex-not so bad in itsself but the proposed complex would be built on greenbelt land and this is where i have my problem
in my opinion there is plenty of unused industrial plots around the country and this would just end up spoiling more of what little greenery we have in this country
now i know that whether i do it or not it will be done and the cash is a great deal more than i get for stacking shelves
what would you do?
feed your family

Fantastic thread!
I'm glad you didn't go for it - I wouldn't have for the same reasons.
Suleyman summed it up nicely imo.
It's probably CenterParks anyway - they who tore up a massive chunk of Sherwood Forest despite massive national protestations.
Rather than do the track for them, I'd rather go and camp out in protest; just like I did at Sherwood Forest (being a Nottingham lad, the historical significance of Robin Hood's stomping ground and the sheer arrogance of these idiots with money wanting to tear it up was just a bit too much to swallow).
It made not a ha'peth of difference - they built the f**king place anyway, but I'm happy that I at least protested about it rather than got a job on the building site, know what I'm saying?
And we both know the music's more important than the money anyway - other things will come along.

absolute f**king displaced loyalty bullshit
using a bit of land to build a recreational park is not going to harm nature in any big way, if at all.. driving millions of cars, having gigantic factories pump all sorts of chemicals in the air and distructive forrest cutting in the name of multi-nationals on the other hand, will.
the guy has a family to feed
total nonsense.. you guys have to set your priorities straight, cut the oh-I'm-so-good crap because you're all doing more than your bit to damage nature and you're all doing f**k all to prevent it
"don't do it vurt, think of the lovely trees .. mnanananablahblah" aaaaah get out of here for f**k's sake

if you had attended the event or seen the photographs you would have seen that i actually have quite a nice life and shit.perhaps if it had been as you seem to imagine the difference between eating and not eating i would have thought differently

wow, I'm gobsmacked by your stance on that, spaceman.
I guess being a stoner and an ecologist / conservationist / someone who cares for their surroundings don't go so hand-in-hand after all.
I think you're missing the point though.
It's all about self respect.
I wouldn't respect myself if I sold out to a cause I objected to.
Personal morals, see?
And if we all thought the way you seem to, nobody would protest or stand up to these guys and far more shit'd go down on this planet.
We each have to do what we can, where we can, for the sake of our childrens future, however little that may be.
There'll always be contradictions (cars for instance), that's life though, eh? If there was a cleaner, safer way of getting around (and I'm not talking about cycling round the corner) easily available...
