Parted ways with my Tascam 4-Track many years ago. Picked up a cheap Yamaha one on eBay last year - no problems with playing and digitising my old tapes from 1994-2000.

I recorded my old tapes on Mini Disc. Sounds pretty good.
I never make mistakes; I just blame others.

They still sell packs of cassettes in my local supermarket. I saw some there only yesterday.

The cassette is also making a comeback in some circles : https://lostsoundtapes.com/

And I also heard that the police still use them to record evidence because they can't easily be tampered with.

Usually, though, recording from the radio is not good enough for most people as they rarely play a song from start to finish on the radio, often they will talk or play some jingle somewhere during a song.
