Daniel,
earlier you mentioned some future Oberheim samples.
There are some in the BnB2 bank, but they don't seem to be quite there.
(I have a Matrix 12 in the basement, but I don't have any audio in capability on my system to capture samples. And from those who have tried I'm told it's more exacting than patching a few cables together and hitting a few keys.)
Could you briefly sketch your plans for Oberheim samples? I have an abiding interest.

You're quite right about the Oberheim patches in BnB2; I used the additive import feature to resynthesize a single cycle. I didn't use samples for that one or the Minimoog basses. There were so many other things to be done and I wanted to keep the download small. The upcoming Moog bank features samples. Imagine 6 Moog samples panned in stereo each with it's own filter sweep and then ran thru Rhino's effects and you'll have an idea of what's in store.
An Oberheim bank is just in the idea stage right now. I'm talking to a 3rd party supplier about liscensing samples from several classic synths including Oberheim, Yamaha, Moog, etc. This will make the creation process go faster. Of course, if you want to rent out your Matrix 12 I'd be happy to make a huge bank of just Oberheim sounds! Or if somebody has a Matrix 6R or 1000 for sale...contact me.
Capturing samples isn't that complicated and can be done with the free software supplied on Computer Music's monthly disk. They even have tutorials. You will need a soundcard with audio inputs, though. I've seen them as low as $80.

Please don't use the Matrix 6 or Matrix 1000. I have an old Matrix 6 in the basement and that is not the true Oberheim sound. If you want something small try to find a single SEM.
I have the Bigga Giggas Matrix 12 sample CD's for GigaStudio. They would be much better if he had paid closer attention. Many of the patches have noise which makes them useless. The Matrix 12 is a bit dark anyway. Much of the joy for that keyboard is the deep programming. I prefer the sound of the earlier SEM's, 4 or 8 voice units, and the OB line.

All I need to be happy is one more VSTi.

I wrote and asked the price of a SEM from a dealer and am waiting on a reply. That was my early sound love, more than a Moog. Of course, the newer Oberheims had more flexable modulation routings which should be easy to reproduce in Rhino.
This will be a next year project as Classics Moog will be released in August, Textures in October and my next surprise maybe in December. With the ability to add new waves there is more programming to do and as a result, longer wait times.

Not to drag an ancient thread to the surface again, but I just today bought Bread and Butter 2 and I'm amazed! I thought I'd have to buy another soft synth (like a soft ROMpler or such) to get the synth strings, brass, and etc. I was looking for...
Thanks for making all these Rhino banks Daniel! You saved me the cost of another synth!
I'm loving my Rhino
My only complaint is that I own all of them now and there aren't more to buy! I live on presets, I can't program a synth to save my life.
Hurry and make more!

Thanks for the nice comments. I feel your pain and a cure is on the way soon: "Textures" should be available by next Monday. This is 64 presets of mostly wavesequences including new samples. Mp3 demos will be available on my page soon and there will be an announcement when all is ready.
Just a little more patience...

Not to mention the two half-finished banks I have at the moment... and the TOTC bank released a few days ago...

Wooooo-hooooo! The best of news there! Yeah, I've downloaded the TOTC bank, haven't had a go at it yet.
It's a great time to be a Rhino owner!
