Blacklisted and not listed are different things. Now go update those plugins to the latest versions and rescan.
No not really, if they are not listed as working, chances are they are blacklisted. Its the same thing.

And they ARE the latest versions. This is whats frustrating.

What ive tried so far is this.

Sonar - It looked nice, but I couldn't get on with it. I will give it more time though.

Studio One - Actually forces my PC to shutdown when scanning VST folder.

Ableton - I own it, and cannot stand it. Never liked it, never will.

BitWig - It is more user friendly than Ableton, and I like it's look, but simple tasks like stretching a sample are a massive ball ache. Cubase is simple, set to move requires TS and move it, job done, then use variaudio to align if needed. I might be doing it wrong with BigWig though, I really am inexperienced with it, but I do like it, and I like the way they've made it work for 2 screens. If I don't move from Cubase, I may well be getting this as an addition, it is pretty decent tbh.

Thing is, they changed a few things about the plugin check, and some plugins, which were blacklisted here before (actually 3, funnily only Cubase included plugins, from Cubase 8 ), weren't blacklisted anymore after one of the Cubase 9 updates. BTW, i have about 60 or 70 plugins installed, and not a single one is blacklisted in Cubase Artist 9.

No, not at all. I just think that demoing it briefly can't get you enough of an overview of what it is like in detail. And you seem to be pretty biased against any kind of advice, at least that is my impression from this thread.

Well I do find it strange why they are blacklisted now, and in no other DAW or even a previous version of Cbase they werent.

I can only assume some error in the plugin manager during the scan. I will try to sort it out, but not much hope with mysteinberg as the 30 day trial will be over by the time they reply.

Then you are reading it wrong, because I am open to suggestions, and I have tried most of what was suggested, with Bitwig being the pick of the bunch, the others are not really to my liking.

You know as well as I do, a DAW and how it works is a personal thing, and if you cannot work well in one DAW, you are never going to. FL Studio is a prime example of this. I used version 7 I think it was for a long long time, and I think it was version 8 when they changed the way the patterns worked, to the way it is now, (Might be different versions, but thats the gist of it) that killed FL studio for me, and I moved to Cubase because of it. Now I face a similar dilemma now.

Id love to adapt to C9 and be able to upgrade and work well in it, but after a few hours of working with it, I just cannot, but I will keep trying, until I either crack it or quit it. I always have 6.5 to fall back on. I just lose out on all the new updates, like Quadrafuzz 2

Alright, understood. Wished i could recommend something, but, if Cubase 9 already gives you a hard time, then another DAW just won't do. I think you do well by giving it some more time though. Might work, or might not.

Reaper is great for timestretching and audio warping in the arrange view. Also for not caring about sample rates of files you drag into the timeline.

I will, I dont want to move away from Cubase as its done me good over the years ive used it, I ignored versions 7 and 8, because of the GUI, but now I am thinking its time to move but only if I can get on with it.

Ive asked them at Steiny if its possible to import colour schemes from the 6.5 default, or how i'd set that up, no reply, they are useless tbh.

When I installed 9 all my Waves and PSP were blacklisted - and GrooveAgent4! All latest updates. Just opened the manager and took them off the blacklist.
I think the scanner is a little aggressive.

I was in the same situation a year ago, loved C6.5, hated the ui distaste that is C7 onwards. I was all set to jump ship and tried other DAWs (live, sonar, samplitude, reaper, studio one), and within minutes of starting them up I noticed something on them that was also stupidly designed or annoyed th f*** out of me or that there was some feature or workflow missing that I got used to. I had ableton for a while and it was good fun and rather well designed, but in the end the pattern based workflow wasn't for me.
So I finally gave in and bought C9. More than half a year later I am still frequently annoyed by the stupid mixer window and some other stuff (like the seven different scrollbars and other design fuckups). To be fair, if i would go back to C6, i would miss things like the visibility feature and the track versions. It's a tradeoff. To learn another DAW as good as I now Cubase after 15 years would take me months, too. All little annoyances aside, that wasn't worth it for me.

Post
