Thanks HH, sounds great, very polished.

Just a question, why did add an ADAT to your studio ?
I tought, that now you can do anything on PC, there was no use anymore for those things ?
Could you explain a bit what the use of that ADAT is in a setup ?

I don't have an ADAT. I assumed in an earlier post that you probably did as all your MP3 files are sampled at 48kHz (the sample frequency of ADAT) rather than 44.1kHz (the sample frequency of CDs).

Perhaps you're using an Audigy or an Emu based soundcard?

Oops reply to wrong post, the adat wasn't you

I have a M-audio OZONE as audio interface. at 48K I have latency around 3 ms. So that's the reason

Latency is an important issue for me since I play (allmost) everything live when I do a song. I hate step by step entering in a sequencer

No mistake...the adat is mine.

I am running adat optical to my new 8 channel a/d d/a converter from my older 2 channel RME soundcard.
The RME converts only 2 channels...but will send an 8 channel "adat" optical in/out to a converter.Adat is the name for the optical format.It is invented by alesis known for their vhs digital 8trk recorders.That is what you may have been thinking I had.

This uses the alesis DAC`s inside.

it sounds terrible to me! not that its not my music ... but waht would you think if you hear such a piece in the radio?? would you phone them and ask: who is this! waht is this? where can I buy it? if yes ... leave it this way ... if no ... go start your mixer and turn on the knobs til you want to buy it on cd ...

details: no romm. the drums are coming from the neighbours garden-oarty? too much bass, and a very bad bass. the horns intonation is quiet good, thanks to wsx. but for the same reason very bad especially at the end of the phrases. the bass once again: did you quantize it?? I think not. its completely out of time ...

sorry ... but I think to get a feel for mixing anything get some midi-files and change the instruments and then go mix it together. til you want to buy that phantastic new cover-version!

thats my opinion. nothing more. and: keep on ... nobody could do it right at the start.

(and I will never discuss any more about my own several years of trying to mix a piece of music together ...
