Clearly, in any transaction involving money it's wise and prudent to ask beforehand about the business arrangements.
In another thread, I made a casual comment asking if anyone involved could tell me how payment and fulfillment would be handled. In reply, I got a polite and informative message from Ben the Camelmeister himself. He explained the arrangements, which sound to me fraud-proof.
The only ways I can think of in which this particular kind of business arrangement could go bad are (a) lots of people back out after the deadline passes, rather than before -- enough to change the discount for the remainder; or (b) someone's impersonating Ben, meaning when we send our money to Camel the real Ben will send it back with puzzled messages asking why we thought it was so cheap. Neither scenario seems terribly likely.
My conclusion: caution is essential in business. But this deal appears to meet the safety criteria of a shy, overly cautious humanoid woodland animal (me ^_^).

Hi,
This is genuine. The intention was that it was purely for people on the Logic User Group list, but we will accept payments from everyone who has signed up.
There isn't really any risk involved. The payments are being handled by ShareIt, on behalf of Camel Audio, in exactly the same way as with a normal order. The only difference is that you will get a discount based on how many people sign up. I personally make sure that everyone receives their product, and that everyone is happy. If you have difficulties, you can contact me at support<at>camelaudio<dot>com.
Thanks
Ben

Ben, the mechanism is well thought out and, I hope, as convenient for you as it will be for customers.
Again, a thousand thanks for making this offer. The game theory phrase "win-win" has been misused to the point of near-meaninglessness, but in this case it's applicable: you get a great honkin' lot of sales in a batch, we get a wonderful price on one of the star dream-synths of the VST world. I'm very grateful for the opportunity.

there are two categories of naive people in the world:
the obvious one is the one who is believing nearly every story which is told. (examples of this species are rare these days)
the other one is the one who is doubting every story that is told as soon as it is a tad uncommon.
These people usually fear everyhting. They are expecting the evil in every child's eye. (examples of this species are very common nowadays)
I believe that the former has mutated to the latter.

Why do the words of the wiseman always only reach my ear when it's already too late?![]()
Could you maybe p.m. me your e-mail adress?
- Then I could ask you for advice every time I have to do a serious decision.

Here now -- I didn't come here for an argument.bastien wrote:Actually, the original post kind of reads like a Monty Python sketch - you know, that bit in 'Live of Brian' where he doesn't want to haggle.

I'm too much of an idiot to have a f**king clue about what I think, but since thinking is so overrated I can't be bothered about having a clue about f**king..
