This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Favoritest? Not sure, but I've always loved the three in Free's "All Right Now" -- no part at all in the verse, supporting line in the chorus, and funky disco-flavored bit in the breakdown. The two parts in Lou Reed's "Walk on the Wild Side" are also choice: there's a punchy acoustic bass (more of a jazz vibe) playing against a sweet, mellow electric bass at the same time.
Wait... loot _then_ burn? D'oh!

Been a bass player since I was 8 so there are way too many to pick 3, even more if I include mine 8)

But off the top of my head:

The Jam - Town Called Malice
Muse - Hysteria
The Stone Roses - She Bangs the Drums
I miss MindPrint. My TRIO needs a big brother.

Any genre? Because those pre 20th century composers could write some fairly interesting bass lines...

Rush - La Villa Strangiato

because he can do it...

Joni Mitchell - Hejira

Maybe not his most adventurous playing, but it supports the song so well.

King Crimson - Starless

The bassline to rule them all (partly written by Bill?). The guitarist ain't bad either.
